That would be my worry and if this season is anything to go by, we need reliable players as much as possible
Gomez and matip can’t be relied on for a full season
Definitely need a solid CB , there must be loads out there as every freaking team we play against seems to have world class CB’s

i still dont understand how he tore his patellar tendon. took some doing. that tendon can withstand very large forces. i have had tendonitis in both mine but couldnt imagine tearing them.

Just seen a tweet from David Maddock saying the Klopp actually expects Gomez could be back at the end of the season. I am wondering if this is a recent comment or a new one?

Easier than you would think mate. I tore my quad tendon back in Oct 19....and then stupidly did it again in Jan 20 on the first day back to work and didn`t think for a split second when ascending some concrete steps. It's a long road to recovery I can tell you. Yes, it takes some force though.

Did it happen due to an impact or bad stretch, or do you think it happened because of the weakness caused by the previous injury?

It just brings it home what we're missing when you see them two together there. Even with the shitty form we've had, it's still easy to underestimate just how fucking good those two together have been for us.

It was a bit different then though Yorky we didn't have windows then so we could have gone into the market.

One silver lining of being out the same time as Virgil is they'll be recovering together and probably have their own training sessions before pre-season. Those lonely days in the gym will no doubt have been a lot better with a team mate to pick you up who is going through a similar routine. That partnership on the pitch might be even better because of the time they've spent supporting each other off it.

Either that or they'll want a divorce.

They're already extremely close, I'm sure its been a great help to both of them. Let's hope they both come back the better for the break and they recover fully.

Despite our form since December, there's very little our various stand-in centre-backs be criticised for (there's no point me repeating the conditions in which various inexperienced youngsters and/or stand-ins from midfield have played) - but the sense of authority, leadership, and general assuredness of Van Dijk & Gomez will be a massive boost next season. Many happy returns Joe. There's little more I'd love than for him to have a proper, sustained period of availability. I think injuries will always be a part of his game unfortunately. If he can get into his prime years and give us lots of football then it'd be excellent. He's still so young and has been outstanding here. I really think that the injuries may hold him back from being one of the very best centre halves we've seen at Liverpool. Here's hoping he's ready next season anyway.
