WE HAVE TAPES TOOOo!1

Bet you have no tape deck anymore. :D I don't see the value of tapes so much myself - they wear out and then the music is gone, gone, gone. :( We're planning on doing a few tape releases soon though, there's a guy in Notts who is a whizz at churning out tapes and such so we've got 2 or 3 in the pipeline at the mo. So exciting!

Do you even sell any tapes anymore? :o God, it was an awful technology wasn't it and yep, me tape deck IS knackered! Which is a shame 'cause I've a nice collection of live bootlegs somewhere up in the attic.

Yeah, you'd be surprised how old school a lot of punkers are. Plus a lot of people still record on to tape anyway not through digital technology BS. We've got various tape decks floating round, never play the tapes we have though seeing as they're for sale. My fella prefers to keep everything we have mint/mint so we don't really play anything in it's solid state, just get it from mediafire to hear what it's like.
Enemy, at that time, and now, I cant think of anything good to say about her. She's still being a c*nt

Funny that! Found that a few months back on boards.ie and have had it bookmarked since! Been dipping into it every now and again. Great to have all that in the one place. Christ, there was some good Irish hardcore/punk. That was probably me talking about Stomach earlier on btw. That split with Steeky was simply brilliant!

Great memories as you say! :)

Found this album in a draw earlier.

Started listening to that again cos of your post. Always thought it was just more generic Fat Wreck chords stuff, but it's not actually all that bad (as I now remember).

Don't knock generic Fat Wreck bands. That's my childhood right there. Pure nostalgia. Still love Propagandhi, Strung Out, Lagwagon, Zero Down, Frenzal Rhomb et al. That's the music I grew up with, yer snobs :P

These days I am mostly listening to Mischief Brew. I'm not sure if you'd class it as punk or not, but they're fucking incredible.

Going to see Rise Against play at a huge outdoor festival in Toronto in July. Thoughts? I've not seen them live before.

Nice. Was he on form?

He was well on form, more polished these days but they're a band best seen live without a doubt. Some of their stuff I find difficult to listen to on vinyl (eg Metal Box) but it comes to life in a good venue. The level of bass altered your heart rate.

and a great one from 1967. Yes... 1967.

More varied certainly, but pre 'punk', i.e pre before the press/Mclaren started getting excited would be a great watch/read. Art/politics/music - it didn't start in '77.

Deviants 1967:

The live Velvet Underground LP from 1969 is a glorious punk album. Glorious. Thing is, that far too many people think that being punk is ... you have to be angry about something and you have to look the part, but punk was always, to me anyway, about kicking against a tide, no matter what fucking tide it was.

For the period '76 to '78 in the UK , I always prefered the term 'New Wave'...Punk, though a good edgy term had a comical element which was often used in a derisery way by critics ..whereas New Wave  sounded cooler, had an unstopable feel about it, more inteligent... and intellegence was behind the drive for change..there was a lot of smart kids involved then,  it also covered the wide range of diverse talent...although I admit 'Sheena was a New Waver'  wouldn't have had the same ring!

I've got a new wave, I got it good?

Anyway Sun Ra reminded me of this far more recent piece of magic...  punk as they come

Fella's new band just recorded for their CD that is coming out, some 7" releases to follow. Here's the song that's fully mixed: http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_9584337

Ex/current members of Discharge/Varukers/Disorder/Blood N Whiskey.

Any feedback would be great. I've been sat in on rehearsals/recordings for far too long to have a proper perspective. :)

I go back and forth between the two as to which is best, Busted Again didn't sound as good to me until it was recorded and then I liked it a lot more. The best tracks haven't been released or mixed properly yet. Think the best one/ones may be released on a split with Inepsy later this year. Quite excited to have some vinyl in my hands, not a fan of CD's at all.

Whilst staying at my grandparents during the summer holidays in the 1970s I bought a Sham 69 LP from Woolworths in Prescot. I got back to their house, put it on, and my grandad heard some swearing in the lyrics. He marched me back to Woolworths and told the woman behind the record counter that the record was filthy. She seriously thought he meant that the vinyl had dirt on it, and got a cloth and some spray out from under the desk.
In the end she got the message and I had to swap it for a Darts LP.
