Looks like it might have been playing on his mind after he's said it. Interviewer has to repeat the next question. Hopefully he's thinking 'I've overstepped the mark there', but it's unlikely.

He shouldn't have said it but he's clearly wound up, and it popped out in the heat of the moment. It's not a racist comment so lets knock that one on the head. But is it evidence of his xenophobia? I don't know. Definition of that is "a deep antipathy toward foreigners". He's certainly got that at that particular moment in time in relation to those particular players (even if not all German) because of their specific actions, but (ignoring his extreme hypocracy for a sec) does it necessarily follow that that's his overall view? Maybe so (based on previous outbursts), maybe not.

Anyway, don't know why I'm defending the horrible get. I'm not really. It just made me think I guess because after the Benfica match I criticised Portuguese players for being the biggest cheats on the planet. Doesn't make me a xenophobe. Perhaps shouldn't have said it but the red mist had descended I'm afraid and I was sick to the back teeth with the Benfica players antics (someone rightly pointed out there were only three portuguese on the pitch! but I was thinking back to Boavista as well).
