I was massively in favour of us signing him, proclaimed him to be a great signing and even supported and agreed with him starting the season as first choice. However he continued to be rubbish and needs to show this form up to the end of the season before we can rely on him.

Having said that December was good for him and he played against a varying type of striker in different games.

Quite telling with just 27 Replies in 8.5 hours, of RAWK - It would be nice to show a bit balance considering, if it was the 'Dejan Lovren is shit' thread, there would be 227 posts by now.

Problem is mate, there are too many stubborn people on here. Too stubborn to admit they might have been wrong about him or at least come on here and give him a bit of credit where it's due. Some are probably just waiting for his next mistake, so they can come on here and poo-poo this thread.

He's not been good enough, I agree, but this is a step in the right direction. When a player has a tough time, that's not the end of the world. The real important thing is how he responds. Both Lucas and Henderson have had a rough time in the past and both have managed to come back stronger. That takes character and it's something to build on. Let's hope this is the first sign that Lovren can do the same.

It is a step in the right direction and although we lost to West Ham i liked how he played generally against Vardy, then Defoe and then Carroll. 3 different type of strikers.

I loved it when we signed him and I would love for one of my transfer predictions to be correct (as my record is pretty woeful) but Lovren has had some moments of promise before making mistakes again. A good run of form and generally not many mistakes between now and the end of the season and we can then start to breathe a bit easier.

I think against Palace he struggled a fair bit as well but so far that West Ham game was the only one that brought back memories of last season.

In 3 months he's gone from folks cringing (bitching, declaring the end of times, etc) when reading his name in the starting XI to, wishing like hell he was in there!  Don't know if it's Klopp or what, but seems to have the eliminated the funk and replaced with badass confidence.  Shitty fans (looking in the mirror here) should do so in kind.

Tend to agree with this. In his defence, playing in Rodgers' defence was a no win situation. A really thankless task.

He's been very good for a while now, our best defender since Klopp came in. He's got the raw tools to work with and we've already seen him improve considerably under Klopp, there's no reason he can't keep that up, and I hope he does!

Happy he picked himself up after the bad first season. Well done to him. Apart from that horrible mistake against West Ham, I think he has been playing well all season - especially since Klopp took over. If he continues in similar fashion he should definitely have done enough to convince JK to be one of our main two or three centre backs going into next season.

Really liked the look of him at Lyon & was disappointed when he went to Southampton. When he arrived here I was thrilled. Really left me doubting though last season.

If the naysayers have trouble believing a player can turn it all around just look at Jordan Henderson's performance against Arsenal. Captain of Liverpool and an outstanding performance. His improvement was IN SPITE of the constant negativity from both the _______'s online and in the stands. Maybe in the future people will think of that with players like Lovren (who has been excellent this season).

Err no, your post is "complete revisionism". Lovren has been very good for pretty much all of 2015 (WHU aside). It's odd when people say he's been utter garbage when we generally keep more clean sheets when he plays and how we have a good win percentage when he plays. You'd think if he'd been that bad our results would have shown it.

I don't know what happened to him - but he has found his feet and is very, very sharp in his tackles.
Plus he's not expected to fiddle with the ball too much in areas he's not comfortable in.

Some players have enough self confidence (Or what some call "Ego" "Arrogance" ) in their ability to not let any mistake or criticism let affect their performance .

Whereas there are others who easily get destroyed and fall apart when they make a mistake or too sensitive to cricticsm and let them affect their performance .

Not everyone needs constant assurance and backing from others to reaffirm their confidence. You can easily see that in sport like Cricket or Goal Keepers in football imo
