BBC 2 9pm the Hillsborough documentary. If you see this after the 8th of may, you might catch it in the BBC iplayer. If you live abroad, try to find one of the expat proxy servers, that make the BBC site think you are in the UK. If a mod wants to flag this on the main board, not such a bad idea?

FUCKING HELL

SOME OF US PAY A LICENSE FEE FOR THE SHITE

11:15pm - 12:15am Tuesday 24th, May, Episode 1

Six top caravanning enthusiasts are out to prove they have the skills to be named the Caravan Club's first Caravanner of the Year. The quirky passions of these motorhomers, caravanners and camper vanners are laid bare over two tough days of competition. Droopy awnings are out and only spirit-level precision works for judge Grenville Chamberlain, while journalist Andy Harris champions a spirit of adventure and more than a little mischief starting with an awning assembly speed trial. Otherwise known as divorce-in-a-bag, this plays out with a variety of approaches to teamwork. But it is the challenging manoeuvres, where even a judge can come unstuck, that push everyone to their limits. Some flourish with humorous and heartfelt results, while others flounder. But with no time to regroup, it is straight onto a caravanning favourite for some competitive polishing and primping before Grenville, Andy and guest judge Lucy-Jayne Grout have to pick the three who have earned a place in the final.

This - and shit like phone shop idol - jesus fucking wept

Did anybody watch Saving Lives at Sea just now?

Brilliant hour of television focusing on just a handful of the 5000 or so inspirational RNLI volunteers who strive to save lives at sea around our islands.  Genuine heroes.

Apparently that this evening was part 3 of a series - well worth a watch next week or on the iPlayer.

Has anybody been watching (Further) Back in Time for Dinner?

A familiar sort of BBC social-reality history show, tracing Britain's 20th century history with a particular focus on food/eating.  They did a series a year or two back, with the family starting at 1950 and living a year per day through to 2000 (a decade per episode) and then having an episode focused on food of the future.  The same family have recently been back, this time living through the first half of the century.

It's a simple concept, and won't be to everyone's taste, but I'm a bit of a sucker for this sort of thing so thought it worth a mention ;D

Yes, am a big fan of the show. The mum seems to be confused by tin openers.
The young girl/maid Debbie is an absolute star. Hope she gets a job out of the show.

I'm watching Victoria...

Its unbeliably bad.

Dreadful acting, totally out of character and no sense of Victoria at all...

Dire..

Don't know if anyone's been watching this... episode 4 out of 9 was on tonight on BBC2

While it's had its critics regarding accuracy, it's been really rather good, if not compelling viewing if you got into it at the start.

A very English Scandal...

An utter masterpiece from beggining to end.

Highlighting class inequalities, the discrimination against gay people all set against two thoroughly detestable but utterly compelling central characters.

Wilshaws character was played as being so bloody irritating, but you never quite got fed up of him.  And Grant’s Thorpe was objectionable .... but somehow you hoped he’d get off at the end (even though we all know he did).  The pair produced two of the great TV acting performances.

Quite quite brilliant acting, and the script was just as good.  Russell Take a bow.

An utter masterpiece from beggining to end....

It was magnificent.

I've never had much time for Hugh Grant, or at least the films and parts he has played in the past, but he absolutely nailed Thorpe in appearance and mannerisms, he was seriously good in this and with not a hint of the frothy disposable light stuff he is usually associated with. I'll have to re-appraise my opinion of him.

And Wishaw too was simply mesmerising, a superlative performance.

It should be a contender for awards, acting, script, the works, but the sad thing is, it probably has little resonance with viewers who have no recollection of it all and it may as well be some sideshow from Edwardian times.

And even Michelle Dotrice was good, haven't seen her on TV in years, probably since Some Mothers Do 'Ave em, and there were so many other familiar but less seen these days faces involved in it too. Quality stuff.

Which reminds of the joke from the time...What does Jeremy Thorpe and William the Conquerer have in common....?
