I understand people want to be cautious about being optimistic but I only watched the last 15 minutes and the changes are drastic to how we played last season.  This is still while we are trying to gain optimal fitness for the season and even in those last 15 we looked very good considering the season hasn't started.  It also highlighted the fact that Andy and Adam probably don't have a place in the team, we may have to persist with Andy though.  Adam seems the most likely one to get moved on.

Bloody commentator when Lucas went off for Spearing. Say it'll be a fight between them 2 for the Def Mid spot next season. Really!  At least Pleat put him right.

I was thinking that at the time, fucking clueless!

Watch the first half, about 10 gears up from what we were in the last 15.

Good game, had me thinking with the players at his disposal, is that a side rafa would have put out ....thought IMO they played 4231 .... Admitedly an interchangeable front 4 ... You could arguably move downing to the left and move Suarez to the right and Borini at top.... stagger some players if you want but you get the point I hope... Pressing high and again you get that from Suarez regardless .. Good tempo.... Holding, Passing and going direct .. Good movement ... And Suarez actually had me on my feet At times.... Well, made me move, well .... spasm in a weird wtf did I just see him do now kind of way..... Class....

            Suarez
Borini.   Gerrard downing
        Shelvey. Lucas
Enrique agger skirtel Johnson
             Reina

Lucas was boss, still far from where he was but I saw glimpses... A few alonso esque bombs, a few cutting through balls,
and a few tackles made.... more to come.....Suarez shows the difference between good and great ... Gerrard showed how more effective he can be playing a free role behind lil luis .... They could be the 2012 version of Torres and gerrard ... All in all for the first time, a remembrance of some solid, steady and at times quality passing football ... Johnson struck a beauty, class strike ... If I could be arsed to be balanced you could pull up a few players who would get constructive feedback, but I can't be bothered ...

The caveat one should highlight, is that we played gomel... So let's not get carried away but if the back four and middle ( Lucas ESP and he gets back to where he was pre injury) stay fit... Along with gerrad and Suarez... Well, we should have some good games coming up...

I'm still smiling though...

The fact that it was an inferior team is encouraging. We haven't had any major problems with the top teams the last few seasons, it's the dropped points against mediocre and bonafide shite teams that have been killing us.

*Is it supposed to be have been or has been in that last sentence?

Have been - because 'dropped points' is plural.

Nearly as good as "The fans really appreciate his hard work" when he was going off.

Sure, that and him being really good at football.

We were brilliant and that's what matters. Not comments about Agger and whatnot.

Attack was very fluid, we looked sharp and ready for West Brom. Is a joy to watch Lucas back in midfield, we played some good stuff.

clearly the com hadn't a clue what Lucas meant to us and how highly the fans rate him.

Which emphasises even more so the point I'm making, this game means a lot in the progress Brendan has already made and a big sign of things to come imo.  Obviously we're not winning the damn league, but I feel so much better after hearing about how we performed today, way way way better.

Very positive signs. You can't help but feel it should be the in-between of Rafa and Kenny we've needed.

But it early days, however it is nice to see a clear system in place.

Great crowd turnout as well, disappointed I couldn't get to the game.

Thoroughly enjoyable performance, plenty of positives to take.  Borini off and running, Suarez looking as good as ever, good understanding with the two of them and Gerrard, Lucas back in a red shirt, Agger still in a red shirt, Johnson's goal.

There'll be plenty of tougher obstacles to overcome, but Rodgers comments after the game were encouraging in how he saw the game.

For me that was close to our best 11 starting there tonight, certainly 9 of them anyway

Loved that both defenders, midfielders and attackers all looked like scoring at times. Hope it carries over to the PL. And I hope to fuck that Agger stays.
Actually they did :D

Not just the way we went forward but the pace of which we got the ball back after losing it was unreal.

To those who play FIFA, it was like one of those games where you seem invincible and everything comes to you and you can do whatever the fuck you want.

Really enjoyed it tonight, Borini looked awesome but fuck me Luis is going to take the premiership by the scruff of it's neck this year.

Great performance from the team tonite, showed how much difference a week's work can make to our game. Suarez showed just how good he can be, jus needs sharpness in front of goal n he'll be one of the worlds best. Just a shame we have to play yet another round to get thru.
