According to Variety, it appears to be between Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd for the lead role in Ant-Man.

Why not get both as Scott Lang and Hank Pym?

Very good trailer imo, did everything a first look is supposed to do.

X-Men trailer out on tuesday. Say what you want about superhero movies but right now they're the ones making the biggest money at the box office.

We've got Thor 2 next week obviously as well, with 2 end credits scenes (one halfway through and another at the end), one of which is supposedly linking in to another Marvel film we've barely had mentions of yet.

There is an abundance of superhero movies though, and I think there will be a saturation point soon. You cannot have so many movies with similar framework and not lose the luster.

They'll obviously start declining, as all genres inevitably do, but I actually think it could live on for a fair few years yet.

Thor 2 looks like it could be another big hit, and let's be honest people will always go and watch Batman, so that's at least 2015. Then if both Batman/Superman and Avengers 2 hit it out of the park, they will likely keep people interested up to 2018 and beyond.

To be honest, even though there are so many superhero films out and in production, their individual quality is actually improving, with Thor 2 and Captain America looking like they will continue that.

It's the golden era of comic book films, and I fucking love it.

Ben Kinglsey's "Secret Marvel Project" rumored to be a One Shot

What is the ‘Secret Marvel Project’ that Ben Kingsley is talking about? The following contains SPOILERS if you don’t want to know.

Anyway, for those of you who guessed that it is a Marvel One Shot short film, you guessed correctly. That wasn’t so hard now was it. But wait there is more! We got details.

Apparently, Marvel knows deep down that what they did with the Mandarin character in Iron Man 3 was straight up BUMJUICE! The movie lost me at the reveal and I fell asleep shortly afterwards. According to sources, Marvel wants to make it up to fans so in the one shot, the REAL Mandarin is furious with Aldrich Killian and Ben Kingsley’s character Trevor Slattery for the mockery they made of the real Mandarin’s identity and legacy. The real Mandarin wants to set the record straight.

Yes, the REAL Mandarin.

How is he going to set the record straight? That I don’t know. Who is going to play the real Mandarin? Don’t know either. Wait and see.

Just seen it and enjoyed it, it played the right balance between action story and humour. At felt more confident a film throughout.

As usual we get some post credit scenes so stick around.

Spoiler
again very self contained with references to the Avengers but seemed to be pushing more for Thor 3 than Avengers 2, and the 1st post credits scene seems more like a push towards Avengers 3. Marvel are truly playing the long game here.

The first post credits scene

Spoiler
is an somewhat direct link to the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. "The Collector" character is supposedly one of the villains in that film. But the actual item he was collecting will link into Avengers 3 it seems.

Fuck yeah!

Sorry, I loved it. Proper comic book stuff, which suits Thor down to a tee. I love the comics, and the Asgard/Asgardian fighting bits are great, they work brilliantly.

Thor is boss. He flies and it made me go "woahh" in the screening. Chris Hemsworth has really embodied Thor, to the point where I read Thor comics in his voice. Same with Loki, who is fantastic again.

We get more Sif, which is nice, but would've liked more of her kicking ass. She felt felt a little underused, but it's only a minor quibble.

Natalie Portman is better than in the first film. She still kinda feels awkward, but she does her job well enough.

Story spoilers and end credits stuff:
Spoiler

The Loki trickster bit while walking with Thor, impersonating Cap was great. Made me laugh out loud.
Ooooh! Loki man, shit. I'm very excited as to what he will do now. Everyone thinks he's dead, so he is free to plot and plan his scheme's. He will probably have a hand in Avengers 3 with Thanos because HOLY FUCK THAT END CREDIT SCENE! My missus had no idea why I was gleefully squirming in my seat as the name "the collector" was mentioned, fuck me I'm excited.

Is it just me or does anyone else expect Loki to break into "We've taken care of everything, the words you read, the songs you sing, the pictures that give pleasure to your eye" whenever they see him?

Although I don't think he'd be big on the meek inheriting the earth.

Thought exactly the same. Even with his trickery, Heimdall wouldve seen Loki, unless after giving himself up for treason, Odin has temporarially stripped him of his powers or something.

The Odin thing is intriguing. There was the scene with the guard, where he asks if it was Loki's body and he sort of grinned. But I dont think its enough to imply he has killed Odin, but hes definitely done something.

We're going to see this tomorrow.  I basically got dragged to see the first film by my kids, but I ended up really enjoying it.  I'm not a comic book fan or anything so I don't know how it translates to the screen, but it was great entertainment.

Looking forward to it, mainly for Tom Hiddleston.

I didn't think it was great. First half was really boring. Eccleston made for a terrible villain. Loki was fantastic as always, Tom Hiddleston's performance is on another level compared to the rest of the cast.

Maybe it was a trick to get him back into Odin's favour ("sacrificed" himself for Thor) and then he got Thor relinquishing his right to be king, and as such, he's established himself next in line. Probably just a plot hole though

Meh.

Not really sure about this one. First half was soul destroying but it picked up in the second. I didn't think Hemsworth was as likeable as in the first one.

Loki stole the show and along with RDJ continues to carry the marvel franchise. Portman just doesn't look right in this film. A bit like Hemsworth i thought she was better in the last one.

One big meh really.

Agree with the Hopkins criticism too, for a lot of it he did not feel or act like Odin.
Spoiler
Especially the bits after Frigga dies, he is obviously grieving, but his actions and words were not those of the wise king Odin we were shown in Thor.

The guard on the dark world does a sort of shimmer thing and then walks off.  I'm fairly sure the guard is Loki and the real guard has been killed off-screen.  That means it is also Loki speaking to Odin disguised as the guard and then again, replaces him off-screen.

I absolutely loved it. I went into the first Thor with low expectations, so was surprised when I enjoyed it. This one I couldn't wait for, and it was pretty much what I had hoped for.

Loved all the little Marvelverse "Easter eggs" that were thrown in...

Spoiler
the writings on the board hinting at the Cancerverse (the fault) and thus the Thanos Imperative. Marvel really do have a long term goal. Loved the Collector in the 1st credits scene too. Although it's was an early shot and it could be seen in the effects, convinced Guardians is going to surprise a lot of people. Loved the other little nods Odin's Ravens in London etc.

Only gripe really is they still haven't developed Sif much, expect then too or Jamie Alexander might be off for Wonder Woman.

Just got back from seeing it, really liked it, although the first half is a bit frustrating. Once it focuses on the one goal it really picks up, the climactic battle scene in particular is excellent. Good blend of humor and action throughout.

Spoiler
Only major gripe coming out of it was what the fuck happened to Odin, did Loki kill him, or did he pretend to be Thor in front of Odin in order to rule, before sending Thor off? Can't see his rule lasting long if he's just imitating Thor, but if he killed Odin surely Heimdall would eventually notice. Wonder how the 3rd one will go, I think Chris Hemsworth said he wanted it to go down the path of Ragnarok but who knows, it's so far away. Until then I suppose shacking up with Natalie Portman will have to do.

The other big issue I had was with the frost beast jumping to London to eat a dark elf and never being seen again, but they addressed that in the 2nd post-credits scene, which was utterly brilliant. ;D

Anyway it was a fun movie, probably a 7/10 from me, would have liked to have seen more of Sif, Tom Hiddleston and Kat Dennings' were boss again. Mew-mew?
