His free kick led to our goal, wasn't the best but found St Ledger at the back post and he heads it across the goal for Long to head it in.

Trap has let the shackles off tonight, hardly a long ball all game. Really pleased with the Doyle/Long partnership and Robbie Brady, but it must be said although Oman have been decent enough in possession the lack physicality and we have batted them away without much fuss. Still, 3-0 up at half time! Hopefully it becomes infectious.

The one most important thing that we all must remember, in case it slipped our mind, is this club is much more important and bigger than anybody. I'll never forget that and anybody that does is being a wee bit irresponsible and stupid I think because the club is more important than any one individual. The Club is, The Club.

Aren't United talking about playing Brady as a left back though? I was surprised to see him with 10 on his back.
I remember years ago doing the fart with your fingers pointed like a gun.

I did it to my brother, I had a dressing gown on.

Instead of farting I shat on the floor - my brother thought I was demented.

It does look like we have a few coming through when you look at some of the results the lads at all under age levels are getting. Hopefully a few can make the break through soon enough because we are stagnating at the moment.

Aren't United talking about playing Brady as a left back though? I was surprised to see him with 10 on his back.

I was listening to kevin kilbane talking about this, because he knows Brady from playing beside him at hull. He made the point that Left back for man Utd is a pretty attacking position. Effectively when they have the ball, the left back moves up, the left winger moves inside into the gap between midfield and attack, while the full back effectively becomes the winger, by overlapping like a madman. He also made the point that teaching a winger how to be a full back, even if it doesn't really work in the long term, can give a young player a much better idea of what a winger is supposed to do. This is because they get to see it from the point of view of the full back, and it can radically improve a players understanding of the game, and help them step up a lot quicker.

I know Oman are shite, and it was a friendly, but it was great to see Irish players running around, and passing the ball to each other on the ground. I appreciate that three of our goals came from set pieces, but it was good to see such a radical improvement in terms of our ability to use the football. It just made me feel happy. I haven't really enjoyed watching an irish performance since the 3-2 game against uruguay. I know that by their presence on the pitch, it was almost explicit that these players are probably not going to be playing against Germany. Even again tonight he started andy keogh ahead of james mcClean.

Tonight's game left him with a tricky problem, in that it looks like all the players that he doesn't pick, all look better than all of the players that he does pick. It's not necessarily true, but I'm sick of watching us play. It's awful football, and it's so ineffective. The Idea that there is a whole team of players who can run around and pass the ball a bit is very encouraging, even if it is also immensely frustrating.

Captain of the u21's Aidy White scored a terrific solo goal last night.

For leeds the twenty year old has been deployed mostly at left back, but played last night on the wing. We've a gluten of riches in that position at the moment, yet we play a striker ???

On the other of the spectrum of that game, Coleman who started for the second time in a row, had a shocker.
