Done about 4-5 hours so far and loving it already. If you liked Fallout 3 you will like this it is very similar but i've not gone to vegas yet which i'd imagine will be a bit different

One big difference is how many more side quests there are in it than Fallout 3. I've barely explored the map yet I've already got about 10.

It's superb. Started playing it yesterday afternoon with the intention of only having a quick go so I could get some work done afterwards. Ended up playing it until 3 in the morning.

One criticism though, the loading screens are taking the piss. Nearly every fucking room or building you enter you're waiting 30-45 seconds for it to load. If you quick travel somewhere that takes ages too. It was ok before in Fallout 3, but this seems to take forever now, and it's taking the shine off things for me.

By the way, if this was real and I was walking around the Mojave outland...

Spoiler
I'd get to the Mojave Outpost and just stay there. It's absolutely crawling with birds! ;D

I've got one game started on hardcore and another normal one just so I can look around. I got more involved with the walking around yesterday so that's much further along.

The hardcore mode is quite tricky because you're used to picking up loads of stuff and seeing no difference. Now though, when you start picking up ammo you get noticeably slower and become 'over-encumbered' all the time. You're HP also seems to drain quite quickly. I can see it talking a long long time to complete on hardcore. A looooooooong time. ;)

Fallout 3 cost me 128 hours and counting (still to play Mothership Zeta). Barely a second of that time wasn't enjoyable.

This game is buggy as hell.

Yesterday it was fine, but today when I walk around my gun keeps going up above my head, then drops down. It does this several times wherever I'm walking. Now the screen has just gone black and white other than mt HUD. Some rooms I walk in are completely blue, like there's an ultraviolet light on in there.

My third F3 playthrough on hard mode is a decent substitute though, I went to find all of the unique weapons as soon as I could, makes it much easier.

nope, met a nightkin for the first time, they're nasty bastards with a big fuck off sword. nailed with the incinerator though. my current fighting style is shoot long range with a rifle and then when they get mid to close range switch to the incinerator, shotgun or repeater for close range all the time trying to walk backwards with out walking into things :)

Just started this, loving the dark atmosphere again and vast open space to explore. Really need to go back and finish Fallout 3.

I got this on yesterday on Steam, I already have  8 hours clocked up, I think I will have to hide it from myself. I have only done one or two quests, mainly just been wandering around the South of the map exploring.

Spoiler
Anyone who finds a place called the Death Wind Cavern, up in the mountains near the Helios plant, leave immediately, the place is crawling with Deathclaws, at least 7 or 8 of the bastards and on a similar note, the nuclear test site at the South of the map, avoid unless you are a high level, Glowing Ones and Feral Ghoul Reavers everywhere.
