There's basically two types of Fianna Fail, voters, first you have the vast majority who vote FF because there parents voted for them and FF are as ingrained in there minds as the Catholic Church and the Gaa are. These people seem not blinded by corruption but the immorality of being a corrupt politician, for them its the Del boy catchphrase "He who dares wins" mentality that is excepted even with fidling hard earned tax payers money and even charity funds see Charlie Haughey.

Then you have the smaller group of FF voters who are made up of people in high status where its in there own interest to have a government that they can grease and basically be given full rain to do what ever the fuck they want.

If you were to break down Brian Cowens anual wages, and work out what he actually gets paid per day, then the figure would be just over €800. That fucking fat c*nt takes home more in a day, than someone on the dole takes home in a month. Not only does the fucker bank 800 quid every day, he also has his "expenses", and God only knows what that includes.

Our Taoiseach actually earns more money than the President of the United States of America. Get on that, a tiny little Island in the north Atlantic pays its political leader more brass than the worlds biggest superpower pays theirs. Still though, poor Barack Obama isn't the only one who's pay cheque is dwarfed by the one Biffo gets, the leaders of the UK, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, etc etc are all in that boat too.

I don't know weather to laugh at the lunacy of it, or cry at the sad reality of it. Or alternatively just feel kind of embarrassed about the fact that Europe must be looking on, wondering why we are continuing to borrow billions, while our leaders pay themselves handsomely for a job that they aren't really much good at. If there was an inquiry into ministerial expense claims in this country, just like the recent one in the UK, I reckon it would be so ludicrous and scandalous, that we would actually go beyond a laughing stock, to being the single most undesired member of the EU.

It took me 10 minutes to type this post, the same amount of time it takes Brian Cowen to earn €20 in an 8 hour working day. What a country we live in.

Up north it takes 4 months to earn on the dole what you get down south.  800 Yo Yo's? No wonder the country's in the state it is. That's minimum wage in the north FFS!

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

I'm just interested as to why that is?

Coming from a Unionist upbringing in NI I didn't think SF had many votes in the South and most people on here are from the South?

Although I have the same problem as my Nationalist friends when it comes to voting - the DUP are a bunch of sectarian pricks, the UUP are so weak and useless and as someone mentioned the Alliance aren't really up to it it either.

In some ways the SDLP policies are a bit more in line with my thinking but then they seem to be dying a slow and painful death as well.

Anyway luckily/unluckily I live in England now and don't have to decide who to vote for back home ;D

Wow - shows how little I know about the South's politics

Why hated so much? (I know that might be really obvious so go easy on me - but as a Unionist from the North I'm not making any assumptions!)

That's complete bollox mate and SF aren't the only political party in Ireland who would like to see a united Ireland, most if not all would, most notably Fianna Fail. It's also in our constitution that the will of the Irish people is have a united Ireland one day something i wholeheartedly agree with. Don't want to get into an argument over this, but that's just my view.

Finger a bit off the pulse there. In the south SF do well among young voters so I'm guessing that's why they're doing so well on here. They also perform well in working class areas so as Football is more our less a working class sport that may be another reason why they're ahead.

I would say easily that the majority of the Republic wants a United Ireland but what would i know i only live here.
