Is this an euphemism? If not, any thoughts on the best herbs to grow in a kitchen with no natural light?

Herbs are generally grown outdoos Kez. But yes you can.

Keep in a spot where you can get at least 4 hours direct sunlight but be careful not to overwater. Stand each pot in about an inch of tepid water until the soil is moist but not saturated and use containers that are at least 8 inches deep and sow 6 to 8 inches across for each plant.

Further ensure good drainage by setting the pots on a tray filled with gravel. Sow at about 5/8 cm.

My favourite types are mint, basel, Lavender, Rosmary, Chives.

Read seeding packet for details too.

Hope this helps?

Guess I'm growing them in the living room then! I fancy basil & mint & maybe a bit of oregano. Thanks for the info :)

Any tips on how to stop cats shitting in my garden?

I've got a gravel path, and the local cats see it as one big litter tray.  I get at least one 'buried present' every day!

I've tried a few things already, but none have worked.

Heard that before but you can use orange or lemon peel and if you leave bits of peel around the driveway this should deter them.

For Slugs i cut a plastic bottle in two pour in some beer and they all go for it and drown, works a treat and the fuckers aint eating my crope any more.

Yes give it a couple of inches over ground level to stop the soil falling in.

One option is to fill coloured 2 litre plastic bottles with water and lay them around your garden.

Another is to buy a water pistol, and shoot water at them. Cats hate to get wet.

Yes indeed you do, say your wearing a pair of shoes size 6 but you actually wear a 12. Get me. So yes transplant them into a tray/pot of their own and as they grow you will need to continue this untill they are rerady for, well whatever.

Hope this helps Jim?

Ok so i need to fill more pot's with soil an perform a transplant hmm i reckon it's gonna end in tears, can't see how im gonna untangle all the roots. I'll give it a go if this is the only way as i can see there all gonna fight for the nutrients and no ones going to benefit.

Cheers Sarge mate.

Yes its is easy to be honest. See when people plant seeds they normally end up with 1,000,000 times the amount they want. So share the love. ;D

Separating is easy enough just do not have the touch of Vinnie Jones but have the touch of Big Jan with them. ;D

Oregano is full of fibre Jim so good stuff. Its a Mediterranea herb that likes a well-drained soil and full sun. So a good sandy type of soil works mate so avoid frost.

Weedkiller is not always the answer a bit of hard work is. Clear out the garden until you have nothing but soil then have a look at what you have and then make a paln of what you want to do with your garden. Believe me it makes a massive difference to a house when your garden looks good.

There in lies the problem, it isnt soil, i dont have a lawn it is about 3 inches of gravel. Short of bringing in a mini digger i cant see another way around it.

Should be even easier then - I had the same thing in a border near my pond and you can usually pull out the weeds if you grab them near their base!
