I'd rather tough draws in the two-legged ties and an "easy" one in any potential final - much more likely something like Barca away last year happens in a one-off game. Two legs always gives us Anfield and time to turn things around.

Nah they’ve been shite ever since VAR came in, seeing all the dodgy decisions that went their way as they won the CL 3 times in a row is a joke, Juve were robbed in the semis in 2017 if I recall. Think VAR gives the most shithouse teams a tougher time of getting deeper in the competition and either way I could see us destroying them over both legs.

One thing we should consider when talking about packed schedules is that actually playing a 'weaker' opponent in the QF could actually be better than in the 2nd round. The 2nd round takes place over 3/4 weeks whereas the QF is usually in 6/8 with a league games to think about meaning a real slog and rotation is needed.

Having Porto in the QF last year was probably better than having City for example. Of course we kept winning in the league in any case!

This is a good point and certainly having an easier fixture in QF helps, but the chances of getting an easier fixture in the RO16 is much higher than getting one in QF. We got unlucky in RO16 last season (but we finished 2nd in the group), but we got lucky in QF so it was a bit different.

In general, the more easier draws we get, take them all, and I'd say take them right from RO16 and then see what the QF draw gives us. If we get lucky again, great. If not, having a good points lead at that time in the PL will help.
