Like the fact that when he goes in for a challenge it doesn't bobble about and end up with him getting beaten he either nips in and wins it or the ball is forced out of the scrimmage in front of him.

Delighted for him, he's earned an opportunity to play in the Premier League and I thought he was encouraging again. He just does his job effectively, he's good at winning the ball back for the team, looks comfortable in possession and I think he has good distribution; there was one pass he played out wide to Clyne with the outside of his foot that was brilliant. I'd like him to start on Thursday and stay involved with the first-team, I really think there's a chance we've found a really good player in him.

He definitely got Klopp's attention to be included in match squad and came on as a sub... He was chosen ahead of brannagan and chirivella( brannagan and chiri played today in u-21 game)...

3 or 4 times h showed his game intelligence by covering his centre back, Kolo or Sakho stepped out with the ball into midfield and Stewart dropped in to cover, was good to see.

I like him, good positional sense, strong, quick, neat and tidy with the ball

Depends what type of a centre mid we wanted on the bench. I think with Lucas out we didn't have any enforcer types available so he got the nod as he's done well so far when given the chance. If we'd had Lucas available but not someone like Allen for instance then we may have seen Brannagan instead

Reminds me a bit of Coquelin with that busy, no-frills but effective style of football. Would be great if he had as much of an impact on our midfield as Coq had for Arsenal.

for this reason I'm unnerved whenever the tv cameras show a close up of him, that's my contribution.

Difficult to say, but it helps being available for selection.

I do think he looks like a better option than Rossiter at the moment though. Bigger, stronger and faster, which helps in that role. And a very tidy and clever footballer as well. I've been impressed with Stewart - hopefully he can establish himself in the squad and save us some money.

Rossiter has time on his side though, no rush there at all.

Yeah, but we're not talking Sturridge/Origi degrees of difference in skill/development here, if there's any difference at all.

The question, I suppose, is whether we will get another DM in the summer. If we do, Rossiter's age will put him ahead of Stewart, because he has a little more time on his side.

He's very intelligent and passes it quickly, with minimal fuss and does seem capable of a couple of nice turns to buy him some space to play the pass. I like the look of him and think he'll do well if he continues at this rate. In fact, I was more impressed by him today than the previous outings in the cup games because I think today he showed more authority on the ball and a sense of belonging at the top level. Good on him.

I like him - looks like he can consistently put his foot in to break up opposition attacks. Tidy passer of the ball too. Let's the other fancy-dans do all the show-boating (apart from shooting from 40 yards out!).

I've not been watching the youngsters for a couple of years now - just can't find the time anymore. From what I've seen of Stewart though, I really like him and he looks like he's got a great deal of promise in a position where good players are like gold-dust.

What has impressed me most is his positional awareness and responsibility in his last few matches. Always looking to get into space where he can buy an extra second of time on the ball, always aware of the defensive players around him and where he should be in relation to that. He knows how to buy a foul as well, where to do it and how to make up the ref's mind for him - an essential skill for that area of the pitch (not similar players at all, but Jo Allen is excellent at this as well).

Looking forward to seeing much more of him in the first team over the next couple of seasons, think he could well have a future here.

How big a future he has here I'm not sure yet. But for now I'd have few qualms about throwing him in at DM for the rest of this season.

I think he's a better suited player than Lucas when playing as two centre-mids, which really does benefit him. Obviously he's more defensive-minded but had good pace to cover that. Needs to learn when not to dive in but his aggressiveness is a nice thing to have.

Would like to see him play on Thursday as long as we have quality up top.

He sometimes filled in at RB and CB (probably LB too) at U21s and always quietly impressed. Whatever position he played he brought the same composure, assurance and accomplishment. Very good football brain it seems.

Not that it's important but most resources online have him down as 171cm/5ft7 but to me he looks way taller than that. Is this a mistake or is he another Lallana (player who is actually quite short but appears a lot taller out on the pitch either due to long legs, posture or gait or whatever)?

Suspected ankle ligament injury. Sent for scan as per Echo.

Although, they then go on to say he won't travel to Germany. Which I don't believe he could have anyway since he isn't in the EL squad.

While blocking a shot in training. Fuck this season and injuries. Feel for the guy cause he was obviously impressing everyone at the club recently and this shit happens. Hopefully he gets another chance to impress before the season is over.
