During our most successful years, we always talked about winning the title. We knew we had a great side. Even in the first half of the season we would talk about it. The belief was there for us. History was on our side.
But now, because we've gone more than twenty years without coming close apart from that 'one' season, we're behaving like superstitious idiots. We mustn't mention it just in case it all comes crashing down again and we look a bit daft. So what? If we don't win the league we will at least finish in the CL places which is one hell of an achievement considering where we finished last season.
'Ah', people say, 'but if we talk about winning the title it might jinx everything, and Man U/Spurs/Everton might finish above us and we'll miss out again'.
Just for once, look at the talent in our side and tell me you honestly think we'll fuck things up. You honestly believe Spurs are better/luckier than we are. No chance. I'm possibly the most negative and pessimistic person on this planet but after today's performance and what I've seen our manager do over the last 18 months I'm prepared to say 'Fuck it. We can do this'. I've been waiting for us to slip up since January and we haven't yet. That could be because we have a title-winning team on our hands and we won't know for sure until May.
So, to all those who are scared to dream out loud I say this: 'Let go. Enjoy what we have in front of us and what we've seen this season and be a little bit cocky. I think we have a team that's worth being cocky about'.
