I’d probably put Fabinho RB, Henderson as 6 personally. Milner is a wily old fox though!

he's not good enough, would get rinsed by zaha ... milner at least has experience on his side
he is injured though

So glad to see Konate playing, Milner better not get a red card like the last time he played at RB against Palace at Anfield.

Midfield looks pretty solid.

4-0, i think our chance conversion will be better today, going to be Palace who get the brunt of it.

Not good enough.

He's a better option than Milner at right back and turns out he is injured anyway but don't let that stop you sniping at young player

I mean maybe Konate might be able to help Milner out defensively if he gets done. He's pretty quick.

Could Fabinho possibly be playing CH, Konate RB and Milner in midfield?

Milner ahead of Gomez at RB is a weird one…

It's not weird. He played his first full competitive game in nearly a year so I wasn't expecting him to start today.

Think the lineup actually makes a fair amount of sense once Trent is ruled out.

Virg was always coming back in and Robbo has played a LOT of football for both us and Scotland over recent weeks, add to that Tsimikas's early season performances and he probably both deserves another chance and doesn't weaken us too much I don't think.

Matip, like Virg (and Gomez) needs to have his minutes managed and this would have been his 3rd 90 in a week. Totally sensible to take him out and give Konate his debut alongside the leader, communicator and all round absolute boss that Virg is.

At rightback there's an argument I suppose for Gomez because of his pace up against Zaha, but he's only just done his first 90 of the season and is probably gonna be asked to go again midweek vs Norwich. Milner brings concerns in terms of his pace no doubt, but his passing/crossing ability as well as his experience and quality in creating triangles with our other attacking players and midfielders is probably the best we've got outside of Trent.

Midfield and Attack look totally fine to me, those lads will get their rest, if needed, vs Norwich. Wouldn't stun me if we saw Minamino get 30 in this if we're in such a position. He's likely to start vs Norwich and Klopp has bigged up his training performances a couple of times. Did well against Palace last season too.

Think we'll win this well. 2/3 nil to the reds.

Yes, it is understandable to be wary given the unfamiliar back 5. However, we got the world's #1 keeper and the world's #1 CB. Konate is hardly an inexperienced youngster even if it is his LFC debut, and he has been training with us for a while. Tsimikas has shown he is capable and besides, he has Milner there to shout at him  ;D Milner vs Zaha is a concern but we do have Fab and Hendo, not to mention Thiago and three forwards who are all half decent  :) We'll be fine today.

No he's being rested.

I get that but, presumably, so is Robbo and he’s on the bench.

If Gomez is needed earlier in the game I’d prefer Matip coming off the bench for the last 5-10 mins than Phillips.

Klopp doesn't want to use him at all, he's spoken about this in the past, having someone on the bench who he actually wants to be left out completely [for rest reasons] is a temptation to bring them on later if needed.

Can people stop saying they'd put fab at RB or CB!!!!!!! We have no injury crisis (yet), so there is no need whatsoever for him to play in defence.  People must have short memories if they can't remember what we lose in the midfield when fab plays in defence!!!!!!

Isn't it funny? Last season was supposed to teach us some important lessons, chief among them: DO NOT move Fab.

Centre backs need to be able come come on immediately so I can see why the manager wouldn't want to risk Matip coming on cold.
