Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş found guilty of match fixing
« on: June 25, 2013, 07:27:47 pm »
We have waited 2 years for this decision! First the Turkish courts, and now the UEFA labeled Fenerbahçe and Beşitaş as matchfixers for what they have done in the 2010-2011 season.
-------------
The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body (CDB) today announced its decisions following the disciplinary proceedings relating to Fenerbahçe SK (Turkey), Beşiktaş JK (Turkey) and FC Steaua Bucureşti (Romania).

The CDB carefully analysed the situation of Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş and has applied the following sanctions:

• Beşiktaş are not eligible to participate in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League.

• Fenerbahçe are excluded from participating in the next three UEFA club competitions for which they would qualify, including the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League. The ban for the third season is deferred for a probationary period of five years.

The CDB also carefully analysed the situation of Steaua and, taking into account certain mitigating circumstances, the following sanction has been imposed:

• Steaua are not eligible to participate in one UEFA club competition for which the club would otherwise qualify. This sanction is deferred for a probationary period of five years.

All clubs have the opportunity to appeal the decisions of the CDB to the UEFA Appeals Body.

Furthermore, in relation to the individuals of the clubs involved in the cases of Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş, the CDB decided that certain additional information will be collected in order to consider in further detail the different position of each of the individuals concerned.

Wouldn't quite say forever. They fixed matches, got caught and a punishment handed out. That's the end of it to me.

I'd much rather see Beşiktaş and Fenerbahce in Europe than Galatasaray.

Are Trabzonspor going to get the 2011 title as a result? Or is that pending?

So it was a famous win in retrospect ?
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Bursaspor will join the Champions League qualification and Kasimpasaspor will join the Europa League (Ryan Babel will play some European football ;) ).

IMO, Trabzonspor will eventually get their title but for that UEFA needs to pressure the TFF a bit as this TFF was elected to bury the matchfixing scandal.

Yeah, maybe on International level, people do forget. But the title holds for sure for the domestic situation.

This'll all come out about the English league(s) one day, no doubt. Too much money in it for it not to be the case.

Like you people think im either a nutter or just bitter but I am totally convinced that one day there will be some major revelations about what has gone on at the top tier of football in this country and it wont be pretty. Its happened in enough countries and major sports that to think we are somehow immune from it is both negligent and arrogant.
Thinking is overrated.

This. Being caught matchfixing isn't something that just "goes away" after a few years. Just because the media isn't smashing them for it, doesn't mean that the general Football fan that was around during the match fixing still doesn't look down on them for it. That's the reason that I stopped watching Italian Football, because I find it hard to not look at it like a cheaters league.

UEFA appeals court pretty much upheld the disciplinary board decisions, only one minor alteration.

Now, the clubs will go to CAS but with the overwhelming evidence against them, they don't stand much chance.

---------------------
The UEFA Appeals Body has announced its decisions following the appeals lodged by Beşiktaş JK and Fenerbahçe SK related to the two decisions passed by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on 21 and 22 June 2013, respectively.

• Beşiktaş have had their appeal rejected. Consequently, Beşiktaş are not eligible to participate in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League.

• Fenerbahçe have had their appeal partially admitted. Consequently, Fenerbahçe are excluded from participating in the next two UEFA club competitions they qualify for, including the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League

Here is the final nail on the coffin from the CAS itself!

http://www.tas-cas.org/en/infogenerales.asp/4-3-7041-1092-4-1-1/5-0-1092-15-1-1/

Fenerbahce SK v. UEFA

UEFA excluded Fenerbahce SK of the UEFA club competitions for two seasons because of match-fixing. The Turkish club appealed such decision to the CAS and in agreement with the parties the CAS established an expedited procedural timetable and granted a stay of the UEFA decision to the Turkish club, allowing it to take part in the qualification phase of the current edition of the Champions League until the outcome of the CAS appeal was known. A two-day hearing was held at the CAS headquarters on 21 and 22 August 2013.

Pursuant to the UEFA decision, which is now confirmed by the CAS, Fenerbahce SK is excluded from two editions of the UEFA club competitions.

Beşiktaş' appeal was denied as well.

CAS DISMISSES THE APPEAL OF Beşiktaş JK

Lausanne, 30 August 2013 – The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has today dismissed the appeal filed by Beşiktaş JK against the decision taken by UEFA to exclude it from the European Europa League 2013/2014. Due to the urgency of the matter, the CAS Panel has issued its decision without the grounds. The full, reasoned award will be issued as soon as possible.

UEFA excluded Beşiktaş JK from the current edition of the Europa League because of match-fixing. The Turkish club appealed such decision to the CAS. In agreement with the parties, the CAS set a timetable for an accelerated procedure and granted the stay of the UEFA decision, allowing Beşiktaş JK to participate in the current edition of the Europa League. The parties were heard at a hearing at the CAS on 20 August 2013

Pursuant to the UEFA decision, which is now confirmed by the CAS, Beşiktaş JK is excluded from the UEFA Europa League 2013/14.

It's tragicomic. They admitted the chicane and said "we just gave some presents the opponents of Cluj and it didn't work. Cluj won their games. So there is no fixed game."

What an argument! Bastards...

UEFA banned steaua one year and their ban was suspended for 5 years. If tgey do it again in 5 years they will be banned for a few years...
