SPORTING PRESS 2-25 Muss   9/4  BOG

Keith Dalgliesh's Sporting Press has won both a bumper and a chase over2m4 on good ground here in Bonny Scotland and then backed up that chase success with another at Kelso 2m1f on good to soft in April, when 1lb lower, softer ground blamed when pulled up at Ayr latest and the return to better ground could be the key again..

Jeremy Scott's Nifty At Fifty is still a Maiden who was a close neck second over CD three starts back and was in the process of probably getting off the mark at Exeter last time when in the lead only to almost refuse and unseat his rider at the second last. Clearly is a bit loopy and has some quirks but has the ability to go really well here if avoiding similar antics today for Bryan Carver(7) who has twice been in the winners enclosure in recent days..

All Good Things is a winner of a hurdle race over 2m 3f on heavy ground during his Irish days. Beaten 9l by Richardofdoccombe when second of 10 at 7-2 on his latest outing in a hurdle race at Uttoxeter over 2m heavy earlier this month.
Since moving to Matt Sheppard this 7yr old bay gelding has dropped 30lbs and although he has a poor strike-rate (1-28) there was undoubted promise in his effort last time out and he was the only one to keep tabs on the winner. He is well enough handicapped to strike and hopefully today is the day..

ARGUS 3-05 Southwell  5/2

Alexandra Dunn's ARGUS hasn't been at the races the last twice including latest at Saint-Cloud in a Gentleman's Amateur event on heavy ground but this return to Fibresand where he won over 1m4f this year and also had a close second. This 7yr old bay gelding has won at up to 2m from slightly higher marks and this front-runner could make a bold bid now back here in a first-time tongue-tie.

Jim Goldie's 4yr old bay gelding GLOBAL HUMOR escapes a penalty for possibly winning a touch cosily an apprentices’ race at Newcastle 7 days ago over this distance of 6f and is effectively 7lbs better off and again runs off his lowest weight to-date of 59 with the decent Corey Madden(7) able to utilise his full claim on this occasion.
Successful both times on the AW over 6f at Newcastle and 7f at Wolverhampton I am hoping for the Hat-trick of AW wins for The Johnnie Delta Racing Club who should be well sorted for taxis on their way home..

Thistlecrack ran a lovely race. I don’t think there’s a grade 1 left in him over fences or hurdles but he’s still a lovely animal. One of my favourites.

The time was terrible though, none of them have lit up the radar that with that.

Hard luck duvva, beaten by a nose..

Found this about today's fancy..

Global Humor was racing unpenalised for a Newcastle victory seven days earlier and arrived 3lb ahead of the handicapper on his Fibresand debut. He recovered from a poor start but those exertions clearly took their toll.

Rae Guest's Chestnut filly ROMAN SPINNER has won three times from 6f to 1m all on Kempton's AW surface off marks of 51, 65 and a high of 75 this time last year and has now dropped down to a mark of 67. This 4yr old finished 5th but only 1l behind Choral Music when 7-2fav on her latest outing at Kempton over 1m last month.
Roman Spinner is a previous CD winner on standard to slow who featured off an enticing mark last time out but she didn't get the breaks when attempting to close strongly from a similar position to the winner over 1f out. She picked up again late on and was a shade unlucky.
The latest run signalled a return to form and she can run off the same mark today for Rob Hornby who will hopefully track the leaders and finish like a train to claim top spot..

MR McGO 1-20 BANGOR   11/4

Donald McCain's Mr McGo's has won two hurdle races and a point-to-point from 2m 1f to 3m on soft and heavy ground with last win over two years ago. Beaten 6l by Zolfo who runs again earlier on the card when second of 7 at 9-4jt-fav on his latest outing in a chase here over 2m 4f heavy 17 days ago.
This 8yr old seems well suited by this testing ground and was successful over hurdles and in a point on Heavy ground, 0-5 over fences but he's down in the weights and ran well for a long way behind earlier-race contender Zolfo over 2m4f again on heavy here 17 days ago should be fine over this far having won in a Farmaclaffley point and tries cheekpieces for the first time..

When is McManus going to realise Geraghty is pants. He’s just given Buveur D’Air a shocker. Didn’t even bother trying to close on the leader until just before 3 out, stayed on but had mountains to do. Dreadful.

Geraghty is coming to an end of a fantastic career, he is around 40. From memory he won the National on Monty's Pass. He has rode and won on some real household names and wonderful horses, Moscow Flyer, YOULNEVERWALKALONE, Iris's Gift, Kicking King, Forpadydeplasterer, Sprinter Sacre, Bobs Worth etc. These owners are loyal and decent people and some younger fresher faced Irishman will probably take over the reins after next years Cheltenham and the Liverpool supporting BG will bow out in style next March..

I agree in general about Barry, his best days are behind him. Can't have a go at him for the Buveur defeat though when he got injured during the race. He doesn't pick up that splinter injury and Buveur wins on the bridle and everyone calls Barry's ride a great one.

Found this..

Buveur D'air, the dual Champion Hurdle winner who fell when attempting a third win in that race eight months ago, also missed out in making it a third victory in this event, despite giving his all. Things appeared to be going to plan with Barry Geraghty content to allow the winner plenty of rope down the back when travelling well, but it soon became apparent entering the home straight there was work to do. A mistake at the second last then cost him any momentum he'd built, and, while it would be harsh to knock this admirable individual, this was yet another odds-on defeat, leading layers to pushing his price out to 8-1 for the Champion Hurdle. The vet reported the gelding finished lame on his right fore.

Buveur D'air picked up a little cut on his coronary band, just between the hoof and the hair. I was happy through the race and thought I'd win jumping the last, but he just struggled in the last 100 yards. It's disappointing to be beaten, but the winner was good, he did it the hard way. I thought we'd come and beat him and we couldn't - Barry Geraghty, jockey.

Just had a look ohweloveyerbaldyhead :)

9/2 The Field

Best Prices

Klassical Dream  9/2
Saldier               6/1
Pentland Hills      9/1
Buveur D'air       11/1
Honeysuckle       12/1
Envoi Allen          12/1

I like the look of Envoi Allen, found this about yesterday's win.

ENVOI ALLEN is living up to the immense promise of his bumper career. He was always relaxed once the race got under way, displaying a polished hurdling technique and an economic style of running which should stand to him as things get more serious in the second half of the season. He was able to quicken without any fuss when his Grade 3-winning stablemate attempted to challenge. If all continues to go well, he is going to be a proper star.

Envoi Allen does look good. Problem is don’t know which race they’ll go for with him. Still a novice so Supreme or Ballymore most likely but in an open year they could be tempted to go Champion Hurdle.

Thought Samcro would have won yesterday he was travelling strongly going to two out despite losing ground at every fence. Fakir Dou’daries on the other hand is a super jumper and I’d rather be with him than Laurina for the Arkle. I wonder if they’ll go up to 3 miles with Samcro, clearly got an engine but needs more time over a fence

Samcro will run in the JLT I reckon. Agree that he would’ve won yesterday, to see him travelling all over a good horse like that clearly augurs well. Seems like they’ve got to the bottom of him.

Henry Oliver's 5yr old LITTLE RORY MAC is a lightly raced maiden. He has been placed in a hurdle race and a NH flat race from six starts. Finished 19l behind Mack The Man when sixth of 14 at 12-1 on his latest outing in a hurdle race at Warwick over 2m on good to soft last month.

Sported a first-time hood which is retained when keeping on from off the pace at Warwick over 2m on good to soft last month and also seems to handle soft ground, 2lb lower again and today has the assistance of Nathan Brennan(10) in the saddle..

Thanks mickitez 8)

LITTLE RORY MAC    WON 11/4 - 15/8

Took keen hold, prominent, eased into 1 length lead 2 out, shaken up in 2 lengths lead last, pushed clear run-in, easily (op 13/8)

Racing Post Analysis

LITTLE RORY MAC landed a gamble and opened his account with a clear-cut success. The 5yo caught the attention of the stewards at Warwick last month, when waited with in a first-time hood, and he got ridden a lot differently this time. That meant he was lit up, but he still proved far too well treated for the runner-up - the only rival to go with him. It'll be interesting to see if takes up an entry at Leicester next week, where he would escape a penalty.

A few good races tomorrow. I like Un De Sceaux at 9/2 in the Tingle Creek, soft ground over a stiff 2 miles is perfect conditions for him. Looks a big price to me.
The Many Clouds Chase at Aintree will be interesting Native River up against Mite Bite again

Thanks duvva and Good Luck tomorrow all. I am at Aintree tomorrow and been studying all night. Looking forward to hopefully a few winners and The REDS winning :) No horse again for my Long Time Profit Quest though not for the want of trying.

Any joy at Aintree? Shame Might Bite unshipped Nico early.

Did a treble with Native River, Un De Sceaux & Joshua on points, a head away from a very nice 46/1 shot landing. Defi starting to look like the horse he promised to be in his juvenile year.
