Shanklyboy / Ray update, tributes, funeral etc
« on: February 5, 2011, 04:19:47 pm »
Hi all

Rather than send lots of PM's I thought it would be easier to update everyone in one thread - hope that's ok. If anyone wishes to send a PM, obviously that's fine too.

I've been to see Ray's wife, Terry, today and she is happy for you to remember Ray how you see fit. It's nice to see how many people thought so much of him. If there is going to be a banner, she would like to know which game so the family can look out for it, if you can let me know that would be great.

The Echo want to do a tribute for Ray and Terry is happy to do that but would like the participation of people on the forum rather than her as she feels the people on here would be best placed to do him most Justice. I'll speak to the Echo on Monday and try and coordinate that, hopefully with your help.

There are no funeral details until after Monday, and at this stage I don't know whether Terry would like it to be open or not. I can probably upate further on that on Tuesday. I forgot to ask about donations - sorry, so will update on that asap too.

I hope that answers most of the questions, but if anyone wants to discuss anything else feel free to PM me, for those of you who have my number you can of course phone if you prefer.

Good call. I've made a few suggestions to the gang, including maybe a fundraiser benefit gig of some sort. Between us all we know enough artsy-muso-types who'd no doubt want to pay tribute, no?

I don't know whether it's of any use, but I've got a piece of music I wrote when my ex Sister-in-law passed away (young) a couple of years ago.   If someone on here (Terry de and/or anyone else?) wants to put a fitting vocal track on it, I'd be more than happy for it to be used in any way, shape or form as part of a tribute to Ray. Go to http://www.soundclick.com/members/default.cfm?member=biopirates and it's Track 12, called Gone Too Soon. Send me a PM here if you want to download it and use it and I'll send you a download link. It's all free and mine, and as I moved from the Pool to the States I want to do something but can't do anything more hands on, so I'm giving permission for it to be used for this.

RIP Shanklyboy

Hi all

Just a quick ask, if there's any sort of fundraiser can there be a way for us who are overseas to put in please? It'd be the least i could do.

Thanks

OK, I now have funeral details. Ray's wife is happy for anyone who wants to attend to attend.

The funeral will be at St Marys Church in Halton Village RUNCORN at 1pm on Friday 11th February, followed by Walton lea Crematorium in Warrington.

Any donations are gratefully accepted and should go to Cancer Research.

Ray's wife has asked if there is a banner we could use for the coffin if possible, so if anyone has made one for Ray that they don't mind us borrowing, or if they have something appropriate I can collect it and will return it afterwards.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.
