Is he related to Lilian Thuram? I always thought he was probably the second-best defender I have ever seen, after Maldini. Absolutely titanic in 98.

It's his son.

To be fair, he didn't want to leave Germany and wanted to play regularly. It was all about development for Brandt. Classy player

Ah right, fair enough. I hadn't really seen Brandt play all the much when we were linked and try not to pay much attention to any prospective new signings because they usually don't sign so didn't really know too much about him but he really would have fitted in here. Salah's worked out so it we didn't really lose out and it again shows how we we've been targeting the right type of player.

It's one of the reasons I was excited about Werner but I don't expect that to happen now.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Well they at least have made a chance there, the goalie was lucky to get away with that. I've been late to this game, BMG can struggle in games like this perhaps haven't got the same amount of quality?

yeah I would say Leverkusen have the better squad, by quite a distance actually. They have far better forward / attacking depth, they are really deep there in fact! Midfield is very strong too. all round solid squad.

Amazing that they are not 2 up now!

Yann Sommer though  8)

You will have to trust some of our own young players mate. I'm excited I reckon a few more will get the chance this next season.  :)

No doubt, a lot of clubs are likely to move towards using their Youth players and we've got the likes of Brewster, Jones and Williams are particularly exciting. I though Brewster might have gotten more of a chance this season when we didn't sign anyone last summer but he's done ok at Swansea.

The current situation represents a perfect opportunity the club to give them the opportunity to become part of the first team squad.

I don't think many clubs if any, will buy anyone big this season to be honest so you would expect this to be an opportunity for a number of academy players. All the three mentioned are givens but they're are others as well, who I hope will get opportunities as well.

BMG’s attacking players need to put more pressure on Leverkusen’s defenders. They might just nick a few opportunities that way. At least they are more on the front foot this half.

that what makes Emre a good signing, he can do that comfortably, even if it's not his preference!

Marcus Thuram with a great run there.

Like the look of Edmond Tapsoba in defence for Leverkusen too. Looked very good last week as he does so far too today.
