So. We just bought a soundbar, (Samsung HW-N410/XE), and I was wondering how I was gonna go about connecting everything.

Thing is, TV is a wee bit on the old side, but still more than good enough - but no HMDI ARC or Optical cable input.

What I have:

TV with 3 HDMI
Blu-ray
Decoder
Chromecast

And I do have a HDMI switch available.

I have a free HDMI port on the TV now, again - not ARC, can I connect the soundbar directly to that one? My gut, for some reason, says no..

So, how to hook everything up - and have nifty soundbar sound from all sources?

Thanks

I had a similar setup with my previous TV which was a Sony HX753. It supported something called Audio HDMI Passthrough which meant audio from PS4 and other HDMI connected devices was passed through the TV back out to my Sony HT-XT2 Soundbase via HDMI
