absolutely! No point having set results if they don't stick to them.  The one who don't pass the test before the start of the season apparently will be video refs for the first round of games. So it's not like they are being taken out of commission!

Bundesliga ref of the year last year, Deniz Aytekin failed his fitness test this season. In fact, 3 of the top Bundesliga refs did, failing cos they couldn't sprint 40m in 6 seconds, and failing just by a fraction of a second. So they won't be allowed to refree the first round of games. There was an article in Bild saying what nonsense it was, as if failing by a fraction of a second would make them ref worse  ;D But I guess the league is just strict on it!

The test is actually having to do six 40m sprints in 6.4 seconds, with a minute tops in between. You can fail one of the six and re-do it but if you fail two out of seven you're done for. Interestingly, females have 6.6 seconds so how they conclude men doing it in 6.5 seconds means they aren't fit to officiate, but women are, is strange.

The harder test is having to do forty 75 metre runs consecutively in less than 17 seconds (six minute mile pace), with 25 metre walks in between. Females have the same time do this but are allowed to take 24 seconds for the walk rather than 20 seconds.
And if the rain stops, and everything's dry.. she would cry, just so I could drink tears from her eyes.

They might be tested to a standard but there are plenty who are overweight and no where near the players fitness levels for example

There are some like Oliver who are clearly in good shape

The tests are tough. Irrespective of body size or shape, there are no unfit refs in the premier league. They might be awful but they are fit!

I get that...my point was more in response to someone saying the women referees in the super cup won’t keep up with the game

I think that’s total bollocks myself

Anyway as you were....:)

Out of the 6 trophies left we can win this season, this is my priority order:

1. Premier League title.
2. UEFA Champions League.
3. FIFA Club World Cup.
4. FA Cup.
5. League Cup.
6. UEFA Super Cup ( Basically a European Community Shield.)

Flip 5 and 6 and I'd agree. I'd probably flip 3 and 4 too, but we haven't won the CWC, so...

All i really wanted was a decent performance and to match city - and we got that. The serious stuff comes later.

Can’t help but wish Salah scored that at the end though, just for the fucking bedlam that would have ensued. Felt like a league cup final not a charity sheidl.

We should be strong favorite s for Wednesday after this show from Chelsea. Thought they played decent actually but I am sure if zouma/Barkley are in starting XI, it might as well be a walkover.

Hazard has been the one who has always bailed then out against us so that's an added bonus

"Decent"?

Maybe if you ignore ball retention, the defence allowing acres of space to counter, and a completely toothless attack.

But I agree with us being big favourites.

Not quite sure why anyone would have the ‘super cup’ above the league cup.
It’s not counted as a major honor the league cup is  ... Also no idea why it’s on our wall of trophies but there you go?
Hope we win - like every game - but ultimately it’s a game no one cares about outside the two teams

World club cup very different ... is counted as a major trophy, we’ve never won it etc

Would be massively disappointed if we don't win the Super Cup on Wed. Considering we lost the Community Shield already and it is the weakest Chelsea side for the last 10 years. We also have two more days to prepare, so no excuse here.

Who counts what and what not as a major or a minor honour. Just interested to know if there's an official list.

Honestly don’t know but all the lists are the same. 4 domestic competitions, the 3 now 2 European competitions.
There seems to be some discrepancy over whether the world club cup is or not

We should be able to win the euro super cup fairly easy. Chelsea has no Alpha centreback. Both their CBs are Bravos....

There are 3 clubs ahead of us when it comes to this super cup, so its time for us to climb by this ranking.

1)Barca   - 5
2)Milan   -  5
3)Real Mad - 4
4)Liverpool  -3

So time to tie up with Real Madrid.

Chelsea were woeful against MU. If Lampard still plays Abraham, Mount and Barkley (especially  on the wings)....we should be too much for them.

Our front 3 should be too much for their defence. Our midfield should overrun theirs. Kovacic and jorginho in the same midfield.....  ;D

Three during normal time. Plus a fourth if extra time. (source Article 27.04)

A shame given the obvious depth advantage we have and how we saw it helped during the Community Shield, not to mention the short time between games. Vital we don't hit extra time.

Can't see us making significant changes to the eleven that started on Friday. Yes, we have 3 days until Southampton, but we have 7 between that and Arsenal - plenty of time for rest/recovery and preparation.

Can see us doing something with Trent/Gomez/Matip, and maybe Gini/Milner/Keita. Think we'll probably keep Mane on the bench for now and look to start him vs Southampton. He'll likely get ~30 mins on Wednesday if he doesn't start. Adrian, Virg, Robbo, Fab, Hendo, Mo, Bobby all nailed on to start imo.

Didn't see anything other than highlights from United/Chelsea but everyone is talking about how stretched/open Chelsea were. Fingers crossed they can't resolve that in the two/three days they have, Bobby on this form will have a field day.

Chelsea didn't play Giroud, Kovasic or Kanté for most of the Man United game. I think it was partly a ruse so we wouldn't see how they might line up for Wednesday. Backfired badly with the 4-0 loss though. We will beat them for sure but I don't think it will be as easy as Sunday v. ManU.

agreed. they wont be as bad as sunday. false sense of scurity on this one but like you say we should have more than enough to win this

Kovacic played the full 90 minutes

Don't think there was any ruse. Lampard said after he was trying to get Kante some minutes because he's behind (probably felt he had to justify bringing a DM on to the chelsea hordes)
