They are mental like. Why would a team, who are struggling for cash for their own rebuild, accept a 2 year loan before purchase for 1 of their starting players?

It seems like Tierney, Saliba and Zaha might be the main targets this summer. Zaha I'm not sure how that gets done unless we can make £50M+ from player sales,so that might be a deal that goes deep into the window.

Tierney I'd be content with at left backs although he does have fitness concerns, hopefully his double hernia operation would help rectify that.

Saliba is a very interesting prospect. However, if we were to spend that chunk of our budget in defence I would hope he can make an immediate impact, it certainly would hurt to be pressured into accepting St Etienne request to allow them to keep him for another on loan.

If we can add those 3 and maybe even someone like Ceballos on loan to the likes of Bellerin & Holding coming back from injury, and use the young guys coming through like Reiss Nelson, Smith-Rowe & Joe Willock, at least you can see a start of a plan starting to take shape that we are at least trying to build for the future.

We need someone that can take defenders out of the game, it unlocks our passing game, he'd be perfect for us. Will need to find extra money and show some ambition though so not sure if it'll happen.

Nah I say, thats all he is worth. 80m pounds for Zaha is a joke and if Arsenal actually fall for that, they are mugs.

25m his actual worth plus 15m transfer inflation, English tax and so on. But that's all he is worth. He hasnt done anything to prove his worth is more than that.

I'd say he's potentially worth more than 40m to Palace because he suits the way they play and they'll struggle to replace him.

But he's worth a lot less than 25m to Arsenal because he's not at all suited to the way they play, and is going to be yet another drain on their wages, when in their financial situation, they really can't afford mistakes like Zaha.

Thinking about it this will propably get done eventually with a transfer request,more cash upfront and if the Owl likes any of Arsenal's fringe players,sold on a separate deal (because of United's 25% cut) with a lowered valuation to Palace like Chambers etc and possibly some of their youth on loan like Nelson.

That said,they could easily get relegated selling 2 of their best players in one window.

Why is Zaha unsuited to the way Arsenal play? They have so little width they've been using Ozil as an auxiliary winger the past couple of years. Surely, having someone with pace who can go past defenders on the wing would be terrific in creating space for Aubameyang (and Lacazette), and would help them play more effectively on the break and make them less predictable.

He's also been carrying that Palace team to midtable almost singlehandedly the past couple of years. £40 million is probably around what he's worth in today's market but the problem is that £40 million is also far below what Palace have touted, so accepting it would make them look ridiculous (though it may lead Zaha to rebel against Palace).

Sounds like a Coutinho situation, says all the right things, signs a big new deal, then more or less the first chance he gets, he wants out, and looks like Zaha too will be willing to kick up a stink.

This. Even though having a year left on your contract barely means anything now re. player's price (it should be but look what happened with Hazard- know he is one of the best but still). There is no true worth anymore. How can Palace not laugh with the offer when they just sold a bloody right back for 50 million plus add ons? When we manage to flog players for 20 million each when they have barely featured or started games for us. When Leicester reject 70 million bids for a central defender etc.

Adidas UK has come under fire after a social media gambit backfired spectacularly, leading to the company tweeting out pictures of its shirts with racist and offensive slogans on the back.

The error came as Adidas launched a social media campaign, #DareToCreate, in conjunction with its release of the new Arsenal home kit.

People were encouraged to share a tweet advertising the brand using the hashtag, which automatically created an image of the new Arsenal strip emblazoned with the Twitter handle of the account.

The image, along with the message “This is home. Welcome to the squad”, and an encouragement to buy the strip, was then tweeted out by the official @AdidasUK account.

However, the promotional campaign was hijacked by people with offensive or insensitive Twitter handles, including @GasAllJewss, @MadelineMcCann, and @96wasnotenough.

The images of the offensive handles on Arsenal shirts were retweeted widely.

The offensive tweets were posted from the @AdidasUK account late on Monday night and were still visible on Twitter through the early hours of the morning, but have since been removed.

A spokesperson for Adidas said: “As part of our partnership launch with Arsenal we have been made aware of the abuse of a Twitter personalisation mechanic created to allow excited fans to get their name on the back of the new jersey. Due to a small minority creating offensive versions of this we have immediately turned off the functionality and the Twitter team will be investigating.”

Arsenal football club said: “We totally condemn the use of language of this nature, which has no place in our game or society.”

“We work hard as a club to encourage diversity and inclusion through our Arsenal for Everyone programme, launched in 2008 as a celebration of the diversity of the Arsenal family.

“Through a number of initiatives undertaken in the community, inside Emirates Stadium and throughout the club, Arsenal strives to ensure that everyone associated with the club feels an equal sense of belonging.”

According to the BBC, he signed a 5 year deal, making him Palaces highest ever earner, on the understanding that if an offer came in, he would be allowed to leave.

Arsenal are just taking the piss again, although at least this time they left the £1 off to bid.
