Ha, you just reminded me of a mate of mine who I used to be roommates with years ago. The fella used to get the night terrors something fierce!

Used to be woken up every night with a 20 odd year old bloke screaming his lungs out and swatting away imaginary flying worms! Funny as fuck and it happened EVERY night!

It would have been if it wasn't so amusing. It honestly never got old! It was only for 2 months as well. probably would have gotten pretty annoying after much longer.

I had this a couple of weeks back, posted about it in the methadrone thread as it was the day after a long party.
Pretty standard stuff, couldn't move or scream and there was someone in the room coming for me. Happened three times in a row as i was falling asleep and the last time was shit scary as i thought my girlfriend was getting in bed but suddenly realised it was this shadowy figure. each time i snapped out of it by kicking my right foot although it took a monumental effort to do so.
scary but kind of fun too.
Also i have nightmares every night. Have done for years and years but i kind of enjoy them. You just don't get that adrenaline rush in day to day life. Sometimes i realise i'm dreaming and then it's just like a big playground.

if you mean that feeling of being semi awake and unable to move, when you can hear something akin to wind when you are pinned and prise yourself up off of being pinned:

the chinese say that when you are feeling this this is dead people trying to take you to the afterlife. learned this from a girl from HK i was dating a while back

i always 'enjoy' the feeling for a bit and toy with it, kind of letting myself get re-pinned. after a while it all gets a bit real and i have to properly sit up and wake up to get free of the strengthening cycle.

I bet a lot of the people who've posted their experiences of this thought it was just them who
were suffering these sorts of things.

Yesterday stumbled across this article - http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/graphics/011109_hacking_your_brain/

I sort of tried The Ganzfeld Procedure by falling asleep with static from my tv on, really really weird. I was dreaming and it was spinny as fuck, I fell over in the dream and I was scared as hell because it took ages to hit the ground, I then started moving in a floating state and didn't stop moving and floating, got used to the feeling and was amazing.

Gonna try it again. Dark room, eyes closed and static from TV or radio will make it work just as well.

Wow never knew there was a name for this. Ive had a few of them over the last year or so. Absolutely horrible. I've never felt a shortness of breath though. Just that something evil is besides me and I always try to open the light but ofcourse you cant move, and then I hear an extremely loud, shrill voice in my ear and I 'snap' out of it. Scared shitless for the rest of the night.

I had another of those dreams when your lying in bed thinking your half awake and something is trying to drag the life out of you. I was kicking, punching and biting this shadow. I could feel my teeth sinking into it and  I would force myself to come out of it by waking myself up fully. Then when i'd started to drift of it would start up again. Now I dont know how long I was doing this for or how many times it happened, but it seemed like hours. I woke up in the morning absolutely fucked.

In Thailand it's called Phi (ghost) Am, (same as our old hag syndrome).
After car accidents dying in your sleep is the second most common cause of
death for men under 40's in Thailand and they put it down to Phi Am.

wow im not the only weirdo who gets these!

i get these every single night, at first it was terrifying (used to think my bf was trying to suffocate me) now im used to them... i even no how to get out of it, all you do is move your toes and you start coming round.

the problem with me is that this all tied in with me falling asleep of a day without being able to stop myself, also when i laugh my legs buckle, and i cant keep my head up.

started to really affect me, my GP recommended me to the walton centre...turns out ive got Narcolepsy with Cataplexy only just been told a couple of weeks ago! not very pleasant at all but luckily the sleep paralysis is the least of my worries.

The doctor says its because normally a person will sort of 'switch on' when they wake up, well my brain doesnt do this, also this is the reason why i fall asleep cos my brain doesnt 'switch off' at the right time!

so i am a weirdo!

Hypochondria overload - why'd you have to write this.. ;)

Has anyone here had a go at this:  https://www.centerpointe.com/products/   The cds are available in the usual places.

I put this on yesterday afternoon, and again last night, and it's fantastic.   I spent hours feeling like I was floating above my body, getting through to parts of my mind previously only open to me through mushrooms/lsd.  I'm at a loss for words on how to explain it, which probably explains why it a) comes with books and online coaching, and b) is very expensive :)

One of the best night's kip I've ever had.  Bizarre, very long, and detailed dreams.

I wouldn't worry too much, it's really called Brugada syndrome and is common in Thailand
 & Laos,very rare here.

If you still feeling like a hypochondriac I'll send you a lipstick, can't say fairer than that ..

Woke up very early this morning and couldn't move a single part of my body. I was awake and looking around but just couldn't move even a millimetre. Lasted only a few seconds it seemed before I fell back asleep and then woke up a few hours later totally fine. Never had it happen to me before but can safely say it was one of the strangest, most uncomfortable things I've ever experienced.
