There was a flash container that worked well on here, used to be hosted on thekop.googlecode.com... don't suppose you have any idea what it was?
Only needed a simple parameter, eg. https://thekop.googlecode.com/player.swf?video=http://www.myvideo.com/video.mp4

This might work. It's called Simple Audio Video Embedder (SAVE) and is designed to specifically work with the Simple Machines code.
(An auto embed media modification for SMF that takes links for popular video websites and adds a player directly into the post or bbc area of your website)
It obviously has to be integrated into the site's code by the webmaster.

Yes we can link to the youtube vid but I can't work out how to post it so that the video shows up in the post like it used to :o
