His sides don't hoof it as much as Pulis. They're much closer to what Pulis at his most, erm, 'progressive' was attempting with a couple of good(ish) wide players.

Hughes' teams play workmanlike, roughhouse football at their best level. So he should fit in pretty well.

I know but he won't change them radically - which given their playing staff is probably a good thing regarding surviving - and just think there are even poorer teams that, for me, are more likely candidates for the drop than Stoke, even with Hughes at the helm.

Talkshite trying to get callers to be postive about Hughes' appointment and I've only heard one - and it wasn't really postive, more 'got to give him a chance' - plenty of others (Stoke fans and other clubs) commenting along the lines of 'very worried' to 'a disaster'.

I know this isn't a popular view but if they get the Blackburn or Wales Mark Hughes (or even Fulham to a degree) then it could be a good choice.

If they get the QPR version though.....

surely they could have found a good young manager in Spain or Italy or Germany who would relish the chance at a PL job?
or even an ambitious manager from a lower league who was on the up.
instead it's the same old faces who get dragged out to earn a fortune.

Looking at Wikipedia excluding City his PL club win percentage is 33%. I guess that includes cup ties as well.
