Listening to recommended 1001 albums (Never been able to do it before as I didn't own many of them, but now on Amazon Music - the world is my lobster)

All these are from 1956 - 1958 and really enjoying it

Thanks for that list, just enjoyed sampling that list and I've saved them to go back to. It's really interesting listening to music from that period because it is so very different, it's almost alien but recognisable but pre-beatles stuff feels like ancient history now.

I got quite into listening to Big Band and Swing stuff because I like doing karaoke, but I haven't got a squeaky enough voice to sing pop songs. That's why I sing stuff like Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Nat King Cole and the like - they all sing with a lower register. From listening to stuff like that, you expand it out and there is some amazing stuff out there. A lot of it is a lot more complicated and amazing than many modern tracks.

Some standouts there for me; Sam Cooke - just such a wonderful voice. Remember hearing him as a kid and being blown away. Muddy Waters is incredible as is Ray Charles and Miles Davis. Incredible performers.

Biggest surprise was Marty Robbins - really enjoyed that one

I realised the Coral have released a B Sides album on itunes so downloaded that and was listening to it. So many of their B Sides were worthy of making their albums at the very least, so many hidden gems.

There's this lovely little independent coffee shop me and the missus go into about twice a week, the staff are all late teen/early 20's. The other Sunday its busy and they have some classic rock playing. Half way through KITNO, I walked over to one of the girls and said its probably best you skip the rest of this track

The younger one had just asked Alexa to play classic rock and had never heard the song.

Even if they sound like Clinic lol. Good song for Suuns is this one I even saw them do it at the International Psych Fest in 2014
