For me it would be The Lobster Pot in town (by Central Station) The Hunts Cross Supper bar on Higher Road in Halewood or Jimmy's on Priory Road by Anfield.........

Yeah know what one you mean Phil, but seen as half of their customers come from the Brookhouse and are used to living on beans on toast, thats why its so popular.

It's called The New Chippery.

For me the best is Chris's on Rose Lane, followed by Steve's by Aigburth Road.

There's one on Bedford Road that does gorgeous fish, only been there a handful of  times and always had fish and chips so can't talk about anything else but the fish is fit

Got a feeling it's not open that late though, I've always been lunchtimeish

George and Angela's on College Road used to be great, and the other one on College Road by Marine's ground used to do a great kebab. Haven't been to either for ages though.

Never really liked the Lobster Pot. If you went when it was busy the chips always seemed half cooked. Great when you've had a few but wouldn't go there sober. Always preferred to walk to Dale Street and get a kebab from that place on the corner, think it was over the road from the Vernon.

Anyone else remember the donor kebab joint almost opposite what is now the Black Horse?  Superb kebabs he did - best in town by a mile. Gutted when he decided to move away and the place shut down. Not had a late night drunken kebab since (well not unless you count in Istanbul  ;D  )

Haven't had a decent kebab in ages, the ones I've had recently have just fallen apart, either because the bread is too brittle or they're overfilled or too moist and the bread gets soggy.

Doner meat doesn't seem to be as nice as it used to be either, used to taste a lot more meaty than it does now.

Worst chippy in Liverpool, maybe even the whole northwest.

Best chippy for me would probably Harrys by the picton clock, or maybe Chris's on rose lane.

Best Kebab place was Picton Kebab house (RIP) after than Flames (RIP) :(.

Not if you go to a decent kebab house that do the meat "in house". In flames you used to see them making it in the back, it was meat colour, made by hand byt doing little flatsish rolls and sticking it over the spindle, quite a few of them to make it tall - it looked like meat. Never asked what meat it was like, but I was satisfied it was meat.

As for the frozen stuff chippys use, I've never seen white meat. :puke

Also flames would go through about one a day so it wasn't contiunally "cooked" and lashed in a freezer over a period of days.

How people eat kebabs from chippies and most kebabs, I don't know, I certainly wouldn't. I only eat them from certain places which rules out a pissed kebab unless I get a taxi to a decent kebab place.
