If its just the glass screen thats shattered (the touch screen still works fine) then you can do one of 3 things

If its still in warrenty then You could try and talk your local apple store into doing a repair. Definatly the more expensive option if the store wont cover it under their warrenty. But it'll look brand new

If your pretty handy with a screwdriver and doing the fiddly stuff then you can pick up a replacement off ebay for £30

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Digitizer-iPhone-3G-LCD-Glass-Touch-Screen-Replacement_W0QQitemZ170435198721QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item27aebabf01

Cheaper. But it means you have to replace it yourself and thats a fiddly job and you really need to know what your doing

Or you can see if your local market has a phone shop and see if they can do it. That might cost you around £40-50 though but you get a quality job because if they mess up you dont pay.
Thanks for your help mate, think i'm gonna go with the third option as i don't have the money Apple are asking me for to replace it! Robbing c*nts.

yep tomorrow at around 6pm i think rumors of iphone 4.0 hardware and software update being announced

i just ditched the iphone 3G for a HTC HD2 and loving it atm but will keep my eye on iphone developments as i feel it still needs a lot of work to catch up to other phones, for functions out of the box.

Have to say i like it and i havent even started messing around with cooked ROM's

the phone itself works very fast, htc sense UI is very clean and easy to use and it will get an update to WM7 whenever that drops

but personally would say wait for the HTC bravo if you can as that will have the latest andriod with HTC sense UI running, the apps are all in one place like iphone, rather than searching google for most WM apps.

What time is the speculated unveiling today?
I want to see whether it's worth buying the 3gs next week or waiting for the new phone...

Kicks off at 18:00 GMT. Unlikely to here announcements on a new phone you know. Tablet and possible OS 4.0 I would guess.

You'll need to get the network first. Lots of PAYG options.

your phone should just work in the USA, it will auto connect to their partner network or preferred network first or you can manually choose, it shouldn't require anything on your part other than to pay the whopping phone bill :)

Dunno, can they be download from 'the usual places' ?

Want to boost your iphone signal without buying those crappy signal booster stickers?

Take your SIM card out of the slot. Get some sellotape and cut out a SIM card shaped piece. Stick it onto the card on the side without the chip on. Now slot your SIM card back in the slot. The increased pressure against the contacts boosts your signal.

Can anyone help??

im on o2 and ill be due an early upgrade this week, looking into getting the iphone, £35 24month contract etc etc. Ive been with o2 for 8/9 years now and im wondering if anyone knows whether iphone deals are negotiable? Ive heard friends of friends say they rang up threatened to leave and got really good deals but have also heard that the deals are set by apple so o2 cant adjust them?

Anyone done something like this?!

Thanks

O2 will give you a fantastic deal on other handsets but when it comes to the iphone there is little or no negotiation as they know that they are competitively priced with the other networks when it comes to the iphone and that you would not be able to get a deal with them either.

You may be able to get some kind of accesory thrown in, but a reduction in the line rental is pretty much impossible.

Get a better phone instead and you will end up with a better deal too

I rang up earlier than my date (so this is only provisional) but they said if I dont drop to the £20p/m deal and stay at £35 they'll give me a new phone for nowt. Last week my mum got a refurbed (apparently someones return in 14day cool off period) for free and on a £30?!? contract.

was that just a standard o2 person you spoke to or was that after threatening to cancel? Also, is the down grade after 9 months on all contracts ?

Yes you can downgrade, as for what offers you can get, no one on an internet forum can help you, those on the phones can help you

remember, if you ring up and threaten to leave you have the best chance of a good deal, if they offer you a good one, then take it, if you dont then ask to leave.

If they still wont, then still ask to leave, and push your luck, you can always ring up a few hours later and say you have decided to stay

However ringing up and saying I want an offer my mate got, or an offer i heard a lad on a forum got is unlikely to work.

yea thats what i was planning on doing, ringing up and saying i was thinking of leaving and see what they say, obviously deals my mate got or deal i heard of on a forum wouldnt bear any weight in negotiations, but was just trying to get a idea to see how far i could push!

Thanks S-E

You can push as far as you want, as at the end of the day you can walk away, or you can ring back up

If you want to get a good deal, the best thing to do is ring round other companies and see what they can do for you, but with the iphone you are pretty much set to get what is advertised
