£130,000 a week for a 32 year old! Fucking hell, we're doing it all over again.

Where did you get that from? You're upto your usual mischief-making aren't you Chopper! That's his City wages. There no way in hell we're paying him anywhere near that amount.

Exactly, that's my point. We need another defender.

Ah right, didn't see the whole exchange. Papadopoulous still our main target by all accounts.

1. Toure's trophy haul boasts 11 honours, including league titles at all three of his previous clubs - ASEC Mimosas, Arsenal and Manchester City.

No pressure, Kolo. :P

9. Kolo should not be short of conversation with Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones when he is introduced to the Liverpool squad - the pair share a birthday, March 19. The Ivorian is one year older than his new teammate, however - Toure was born in 1981, while Jones was born in 1982.

What a riveting conversation that would be. ;D

The fact that we have a few former Man City scouts on the payroll gives me confidence that we know a lot about his character, injury record, form etc.
Well said, we should get two or three seasons out of him.

I don't know. Personally, there's very few people outside of LFC, past ot present, that I would consider legends.

Still happy to see Kolo coming in. If we'd win the league next season he might be considered to be a legend.  :P

He played all but one league game in a season where Arsenal went undefeated. Every player on that team is entitled to be called a legend. The last team to go through a whole top division season unbeaten were Preston NE in the 1880's. That's how rare an achievement it is.

Welcome Kolo. We need a mature head in defence. I'm still waiting for a highly rated centre back signing but it's nice to know Kolo will be there if he's needed. And who knows he might even fit in perfectly and be 1st choice from the start. Time will tell though.  Let's continue the window shopping and bring more in :)

The winner thing is important, because when you haven't won anything as a team (and a lot of our players haven't), then that experience when things are tight - that willingness to be calm and to play your game and keep working until you regain the advantage - can be crucial. It doesn't have any bearing on the defensive side of things, as you point out, but I wouldn't discount it either in terms of the mentality side of things. He'll be a player the younger players will look up to, who can say "trust this, forget that, and work hard when this happens" when things get a bit too close for comfort, and his influence will help guide those players when they have confidence issues. In terms of that, the young players in the squad have Suarez, Gerrard and now Toure to look up to in terms of trophies won.

Well, I hope some of the younger defenders like Wisdom and Kelly pick some things up.

Anyway, not to nitpick, I hope he has a great year with us and even pushes for a first team spot.

Good signing, glad we got this done quickly... We desperately need an experienced head at the back and for too long Agger & Skrtel have had no competition and became too complacent.

Hope he does well for us.

We have conceded the same number of goals as the league winners this season, so it seems that the defence is not our problem.

Lol you are so gassed, defence is definitely our problem.

Any team that concedes three to West Brom twice, Villa, Stoke, Young Boys, Southampton, etc etc has significant defensive problems.

Between them, the CM and CB pairings are just not giving us enough defensive stability, and changing the CB pairing is the easiest way to improve this.

Strange addition, I may be mistaken but has he not struggled to even get a run of games in the past 3 years? While its wise to replace experience lost via carra's departure with experience you have a hard time convincing me Toure is the type of guy you would look up to. Left Arsenal for a big pay packet, has swam in the miserable team building wilderness that City has created, the only headlines he has achieved the past 2 years has been iffy ones.

Defintely a gamble and hope the lad does not become a hurdle before the likes of Kelly getting a chance in central defense.

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/403296/Kolo-Toure-becomes-Liverpool-s-first-summer-signing

" He has agreed a two-year deal and will take a drop in his wages, having been earning about £90,000-a-week at the Etihad. "

I highly doubt with the wage structure in place he would have been allowed this ridiculous 120-130k a week that is been brandished around on here. i hope.

Welcome Kolo. Was one of my favourite defenders when he was at Arsenal. I hope he shows us he has more than enough in the tank. Conceivably has what we need: experience, a bit of pace, good reader of the game, can play with the ball at his feet and a very strong guy.
