A good mate of mine is a Town fan so I was at the final on Monday and have been to see them quite a bit over the past few years (the late winner at home to Leeds in February was a particular highlight). Lines I never thought I'd hear from a Huddersfield fan include in the toilets at Griffin Park in December 2015 as, with the away side 3-0 down at half time, the broadest West Yorkshire accent declared "Well, there's only one side gegenpressing today."
Anyway - they're tight defensively, generally play either a high press against poorer teams or a deep-lying counter against the better ones and have huge graft in midfield - Aaron Mooy is a player to look out for whether he stays for another season on loan from Man City or goes elsewhere in the Premier League on loan, as is centre half Michael Hefele.
They'll need to strengthen up front to have any chance at all of surviving. Striker Nakhi Wells was probably just about good enough for the Championship but is nowhere near Premier League quality and Rajiv van la Parra, whilst always a willing dribbler, doesn't have much end product. Their other main attackers - Izzy Brown and Elias Kachunga - are both loanees.
Either way, minutes after the winning penalty when he's stopped crying with joy, my mate basically listed all the grounds and clubs they'll get to visit as equals next season. It's a long way from when he was in Cardiff watching them beat Mansfield on penalties in the old Third Division playoff in 2004.
