If your main racist tosspot is saying 'maybe you've got a bit too far' associating your party with a c*nt like Robinson then that's saying something.

Polishing that public image for the bexit road ahead me thinks. Got to keep that Question time seat warm and that wont happen with the direction UKIP are heading

Firstly Yaxley is not a rich Tory boy.
Secondly Nigel is and always has been a Tory boy.
Thirdly, he is going to join up with the Eton Meff for either a leadership challenge for the Tories, or if the wreck of Brexit proves to be the death knell of the Tory party, him and the rich gobshites on the right will form a new party called the Nationalist Conservative Independence Party

David Coburn, the leader of UKIP in Scotland has also quit the party, which means Scotland is now a completely UKIP free zone again (he was their only elected politician in the whole of Scotland)!  :wave

I wonder if this is all part of a 'great realignment' of UK political parties.

UKIP as a tiny far right nationalist party. The Conservatives (with added Frottage and other Kippers) as a Bannon-inspired populist right-wing party. A new internationalist/centrist party comprised of moderate ex-Tories, moderate ex-Labour and the remaining Lib Dems. Labour under Corbyn or a successor as a 'pure' socialist party.

Can’t see it happening - although it would more truly reflect the actual positions of certain individuals. FPTP will ensure for the foreseeable future that we have square pegs in round holes, pretending it’s not them that don’t fit, but everyone else.

Interesting tweets from Arron Banks today claiming to have recruited 20,000 new members into the Conservative party to vote for a hard Brexiteer if May loses the confidence vote.

Momentum have shown that you don't have to worry about FPTP if you can simply take over an existing party through entryism.

If Banks and the headbangers succeed, and the country ends up with, say, Boris as P.M, do you suppose it might be the catalyst for a new centrist Party - often mooted - to actually have a chance of being formed?

According to the party rules, you need to be a member for 3 months before being allowed to vote. Is he claiming these 20,000 have already joined up in enough time to be allowed to vote?

I would certainly hope so. The Lib Dems are already signed up to it and Vince Cable seems determined that it will be his 'legacy'. There are actually a lot of moderate, centrist Tories who would be appalled at a move to the populist right under one of the ERG mob. Some like Dominic Grieve have even said openly that they would quit. I suspect there are 80-100 who could be persuaded to follow, especially the more recent intake that won seats under Cameron. Where would they go? Forming a new centrist party is the only possibility. I'm sure that there are many Labour MPs who would jump ship if someone offered them a lifeboat.

Good question. I hope it doesn't become an issue. Weirdly enough I'm forced into hoping that May survives today and that this actually empowers her to ignore the ERG and push on towards a soft Brexit or peoples vote. The alternatives are all too horrible, it's a 'better the devil you know' situation.

I am hoping that ERG fail miserably, and May is damaged but wins.

If the alternative to May is a Boris foisted on us by the Tory membership, then her survival is preferable, I think. At least at this late stage in the day. (Although Boris would have the advantage of provoking a new centre party as the likes of Grieve and Allen would peel off).

Couldn’t agree more. My question was hypothetical - only in the event of a Boris/other headbanger-led Tory Government would I hope that the majority of MPs - moderates - would look at the viability of a centrist Party being formed.

UKIP grooming tweet leads to £40k libel award

A man has won £40,000 damages from a former UKIP official over a tweet that falsely accused him of child grooming.

Zahir Monir, a businessman from Rotherham, brought a High Court libel case against Steve Wood, the former chairman of UKIP's Bristol branch, who stood in the May 2015 general election.

Mr Justice Nicklin said the allegation had badly affected Mr Monir's life.

In his ruling, he said: "Mr Monir is completely innocent. He has been seriously libelled."

The tweet featured a photo of Mr Monir, 39, and another person standing either side of Labour MP Sarah Champion, with the statement: "Sarah Champion labour candidate for Rotherham stood with 2 suspended child grooming taxi drivers DO NOT VOTE LABOUR".

The judge said: "He has been forced to fight a libel claim all the way through to trial with every single conceivable point being taken against him."

Mr Wood, a former police officer who now runs a bailiff firm, had adopted a "mean-spirited stance" in refusing to apologise and withdraw the allegation, the judge added.

Had the allegation been published in a national newspaper, he said he would have awarded damages of £250,000.

The tweet, published on Bristol UKIP's official Twitter account on 4 May, three days before the election, was written and posted by John Langley - the branch's vice-chairman at the time.

It was published to @BristolUKIP's 547 followers, retweeted at least 17 times, liked at least eight times, published on the official Bristol UKIP webpage and republished on Facebook.

Although Mr Langley wrote the tweet, Mr Justice Nicklin found he was "quite clearly acting as the agent of Mr Wood".

Mr Monir's solicitor Jeremy Clarke-Williams said the judgment was "extremely important" and would have to be considered carefully by those who have social media accounts that others operate on their behalf.

Hopefully someone will be knocking at his door to collect the debt he now owes.

UKIP member called for Gina Miller to be beheaded

A UKIP member who said he looked after party leader Gerard Batten at a rally called for a campaigner to be beheaded, a BBC investigation has found.

Kenneth Allen said Gina Miller, who campaigned for MPs to vote on Article 50, should have her head cut off and left outside Buckingham Palace.

He also said a "full pig" should have been thrown at a mosque in Blackpool.

Mr Batten said he "deplored" the posts and Mr Allen was not a member when he made the remarks on Facebook in 2016.

Mr Allen also warned a woman before the EU referendum to "do yourself a big favour and vote out so you don't get raped of (sic) a migrant".

He said he looked after Mr Batten when the UKIP leader appeared at a rally in Sunderland in September.

Mr Allen also called Ms Miller a "cow traitor" in the Facebook post.

He did not want to comment when he was approached by BBC Inside Out.

Ms Miller said: "It's frightening. To actually be confronted with the words.

"It's ridiculous to think that I now think it's normal for people to threaten me on a daily basis, but to see it in black and white... that somebody wants me to be beheaded and my head put outside Buckingham Palace.

"This is just one of the death threats I get almost on a daily basis."

UKIP leader Mr Batten said: "I attended a rally organised by justice for women and children on 15 September.

"Many people ask to have their photograph taken with me at these events and it would be impractical and rude of me to refuse them.

"Kenneth Allen was a lapsed member who renewed his membership in April 2018. When he made the posting in question he was not a member of the party.

"I deplore the remarks made and these in no way represent the views of me, UKIP, or the overwhelming numbers of our membership."

He said the party could only take action if someone lodged a formal complaint, and he hoped the BBC would not try to smear UKIP or himself by means of "guilt by association".

Isn't that what they base their whole party on? Whether it's Muslims or foreigners or any number of groups.
So bloody what? If you watch football to be absolutely miserable then go watch cricket.

Page 3 this had got to, which highlights how irrelevant they are now.

Anyway, they have a new leader! I would normally consider it news or bother dredging up the thread, but the guy's name is Dick Braine, which is surely worthy of a chortle.

Why would they not pick their No 1 MEP candidate in London as their new leader? Has he/she already defected to Frottage's new gang?

No 1 was the ex-'interim' Leader, who was barred from standing
