Curios if there's any Americans on here who'd like to see Promotion and Relegation in MLS, rather than the franchise system?

I think relegation would not only make it more interesting, but would make the sport unique in North America. It may take some time to happen. May have to wait until the clubs are healthy enough to be able to drop down and not implode financially.

Atlanta United picked up Darlington Nagbe during the close season, can't believe I've neglected to mention this here before now...

Boca really has done quite a good job piecing things together. If they hold onto Almiron for one more year and pick up the young kid from Argentina, Ezequiel Barco from Independiente...

Next season will be an even wilder ride... ;D

Do we do a transfer thread in MLS on RAWK? MLSTT acronym?

Apparently, Independiente are now being bitches about Ezequiel Barco...

According to a Ole, "Atlanta United subio la oferta a 16.000.000 de dolares por el pibe de 18 anos..."

but they want a full doubling of the original 12 million dollar offer.

'El Pibe Barco,' get him signed, Carlos... ;D

Seems that Eric Wynalda is taking more & more votes out of the amateur sections in the USSF president elections. If he can secure the Players' section, and wins it, he said he will implement pro/rel for US Soccer.

Pro/rel will eventually happen, maybe not right now, but the MLS can't just keep expanding and dividing the league into conferences, eventually you will come to a point where you can't have everyone playing at the MLS.

For me, 18 teams in D1, 18 teams in D2 and then conferences from D3 would be the best way to go.

Hoping promotion and relegation are eventually a part of the American game. I'm not American but I've come to enjoy watching MLS over the past few years and have stuck up for it when people are quick to criticise it, even though I'm fully aware it's not the greatest league around. It is however a good league that is growing in actual quality in terms of players/stadiums etc.

The constant addition of franchises however is one thing I'm critical of myself though. I know it's an American sports thing in general but it's shite if you ask me. With the addition of another LA team, one conference is going to have 12 teams, the other 11. 23 teams, and I've read they're trying to hit 28, but I could see them wanting to go even further than that if the current system stays the same. Hopefully that gets changed.

On the topic of the new LA team, I've seen they've already got a fanbase and it confuses me a bit. With the Galaxy and Earthquakes, what about LAFC is so appealing to fans to follow them? I'm not going to throw about terms like plastic, but it does confuse me. Atlanta are similar as far as I'm aware, because I don't think they had a team playing in another division (maybe they did, but I remember for a fact that Minnesota did, so it's easy to see where their following comes from.)

Soooo....the Concacaaf Champions league last 16 kicked off last night and Toronto beat Colorado 0-2 in Denver in -16C. Talk about a nutso way to kick off a competitive season. Crazyness. Return match next Tuesday may well be pretty chilly as well. highly suspicious draw matching the cold weather teams in Feb  ;D

Quite looking forward to TFC taking on LFC in the Club final next Christmas :)

I am going to go way out on a limb here and say that was the best game of football ever played North of the Mexican border. Simply outstanding performance by the mini-Reds against top quality opposition. Bust up in the tunnel after the game, the Mexicans were not best pleased at being slapped unceremoniously. Weather was atrocious, driving rain howling wind 2 degrees C. Dont think they liked that either. Giovinco dive earned a pen at the 9 min mark and they lost their rag.  ;D The Club amarica goal was a mazy run beat 6 men, split the last 2 in all alone fired top corner, worth the price of admission right there even if it sucked lol.

Great game. Well in Toronto.

Next legs in the Azteca but we have a decent shot becouse it looks like we can score on these. Nearly had the 4th a couple of times.

Looking forward to the TFC-LFC club world championship next Christmas  ;D
