Strange how he just vanished

I don't think this was the best GW to start out in. Especially immediately after a draft with all the best players at internals snatched away.

it's a shame as he was given players as a head start

Maybe someone else on here might fancy it?

Should stick a "looking for new managers" in the thread title or something like that.

It's an online football manager game. So you build your team, sign & trade players, set your tactics, and then compete against the rest of us in leagues & cup competitions. Lots of insulting, name-calling and other shenanigans involved as well  :D

Player ratings are based on how well they're performing in real life, so one of the best parts of the game is scouting out young talent and watching them grow. For example, you could've signed Erling Haaland for peanuts just a few months ago, but now he's one of the most valuable players in the game.

Is it similar to FM? Finance-wise and such?

It is a basic version of that yes, so very similar. This particular GW currently has a few super squads so catching them would require a lot of patience, the tactics side of things has an impact but less so than FM.

Player reviews generally only happen twice a year with the big leagues, only once for the smaller leagues. Some younger players will get random rises.

If there is enough interest from new managers and our existing managers then we could set up a new world.

I've always liked the idea of a GW where we all start in the lowest Division with a £5m budget.

Take a look at the teams available,  you'll see the squads and available funds.

Currently we do not allow transfers from unmanaged clubs but there are plenty of external clubs with players. We have a 40 man limit in place also. I think we're willing to relax these rules in some way to attract new managers though.

Sweet, accepted just now.

Here's the Sleeping Giants thread itself

It's 4 up 4 down in each division. There's a 35 player squad limit, though you won't be able to sell most of your squad until their transfer bans have expired, so just ignore that rule for now and sign who you like. Any probs, questions give me shout!

Am I good to sign anyone? Like De Gea isn't with any controlled club so can I pick him up?

Is age a concern? I see a lot of 30s-ish players available for example.

Yeah you’re free to sign anyone. Just keep the 35 limit in your sights in the long run.

Younger players are more valuable in the transfer market, especially when it comes to swap deals with other managers, their values rise with their ratings too and can make you a tidy profit when you sell them on. Older players might win you a trophy or two though as a few still have high-ish ratings. Older players ratings and values tend to start declining over 30. They can be a burden on wages too.

We're still looking for new managers, would be great if we could fill Division 2 which currently has no managers, 14 teams available and would be a great starting point for anyone new to the game. It's free to join and great fun.

It's the right decision. When he's played he's been fine [18 goals in 22 appearances], the problem has been his fitness for the last two years. But his production on the pitch isn't an issue

Level of competition and caps have always been used in SM, if he had numbers like that in England or Spain then fair enough but the French league isn't as strong. Look at Mane and Salah, imagine the numbers they would have in the French League, both rated lower.
