Grew into the game and you could see he was taking the percentage option a lot of the time compared to how he'll usually bomb down the wing in the youth matches.

Thrown in at the deep end, did okay. There's a lot more to come from this young man.

He'll learn from it.

Needs a bit of muscle to go with him and he'll possibly be fine. Made a few silly darts forward ala Moreno towards the end, and showed his nerves many a time, but held up for his league debut at OT.

That's a tough match to be thrown into. Don't forget, Clyne had a nightmare against Martial last season and all. He did ok considering the circumstances.

He really grew into the game although I think Mourinho taking Martial kind of let him of the hook.

18 and his first start ... not so bad eh?

Yeah for sure, and after a tough start he did get a lot better, second half especially

more positives than negatives to take from this

That was as hard a game to make his first PL start in as there is.

There were a few nervous moments but overall I really thought he did well up against some quality opposition in Marital and then Mkhitaryan in the second half.  I think Klopp will be happy with that performance from him, I'm sure he'll build on it.

First league start at 18, against United at OT, playing against Martial and Pogba, in a formation without a real RW? Kid did great.

Plenty more to come from him, probably told to hang back by Klopp rather than bombing forward like we've seen so far, big future at the club for this lad.

Remember Clyne got absolutely torn to pieces last season.

Will be a pretty good player as he gets older. Very tough ground to play in against a very good player (Martial) and did ok given the circumstances. Some clumsy moments, but it happens to young players.

When is Clyne coming back?

He was good considering he's a kid thrown in the deep end.
I think he gave their attackers too much space for the fear of getting skinned - Martial especially.

Overall did ok, but I think we should have played senior players.

Nah that's bollocks, Clyne got destroyed by Martial last season but Trent didn't give him a chance today and he got hooked as a result. I'd have no worries about him playing instead of Clyne when necessary if today is anything to go by.

the toughest game a young player could be thrown into - and he showed his character

I reckon the nerves made him really heavy legged as Martial had him on toast and he was played around way too easily I thought. Had me effin and blindin at my screen for the whole 90. No tougher test than Utd away though.

He didn't and he wasn't.

He had a tough opening 15, was good after that apart from one error, if you're effing and blinding at a kid it's you who's the problem.

He can be proud of that, a full debut away at Old Trafford at 18 years of age and he was fine. I hope this provides the impetus for him to really start pushing on now.

Don't care about those couple of moments when Martial got the better of him. Lad was on his debut at 18 and facing one of the best forwards in the league. Clyne was ripped to shreds by him last year.

Gutsy stuff. Well done.

Absolutely bossed it. Sure it wasn't perfect, but that is one tough place to go and make your full debut.

Didn't look out of place at all, did great against Martial (who had the beating of Clyne last year). Really positive.
