Either we have many angelic, controlled and rational people on this forum or plenty of hypocrites. Looking at the vitriol and bile that’s given out after every game we lose, I’d say the latter.
If you’re over the age of 12 and have never done something you profoundly regret, that makes you blush with shame and wish you could wind back the clock, then you’re a very unusual, (boring?), person.
Carragher was an aggressive, gritty player and didn’t lose these qualities the minute he hung up his boots. That’s not to excuse his actions and I’ll guarantee he doesn’t want to be excused, but it shouldn’t be difficult for most of us to understand him and maybe some of us will admit ‘there but for the grace of god ……………..’
In the heat of the moment he’s done something shameful and now has to take his punishment. He’s also been stupid. Working in the public eye you get the big money but you’re the potential target of every dickhead armed with phone camera. Which is why anyone who chooses a public career these days either has to have the skin of a rhino or be mind-numbingly bland.
Jamie walked right into the trap. Dumb. Would Mr. Bigmouth Manc have tried his luck face-to-face with Carragher behind closed doors, no cameras present? Are you kidding? He’s done what we see on the pitch every week, goaded someone, dived and called on the ref for punishment, and he’s won.
