They kept fighting for what they knew was the truth, in spite of all the shit thrown at them for 27 years. True heroes of our time.

27 years of knowing the truth and fighting for it has finally let the truth be known. Those who so steadfastly fought for this day, as well as the 96, have been well and truly vindicated. Obviously I don't remember that harrowing day as I was only three at the time, but even as someone not from Liverpool I still have tears in my eyes.

Wow, the day I never thought I'd see, I feel happy and sad at the same time, such a strange feeling.

I used to have a Justice for the 96 sticker on my window at Uni from 1996 onwards. It has taken this long to finally get it.

27 years to get what everyone already knew..
I've seen this a few times, but not everyone knew even up until very recently it seemed the general consensus was that fans were in some way culpable.

This now should put that hurtful fallacy completely beyond doubt.

No surprise despite admitting culpability and making apologies but the Police and Ambulance service could have expedited this process much faster

Against a backdrop of lies, misdirection and cover-ups - today is for all those that refused to just "move on."

Asking for the truth when loved ones have been lost, should never be that difficult.

Unreal. Can't believe its finally over.

If you'd have told me during that horrific, interminable drive home in April 1989 that we would be 16 years into a new century before the truth was out...well, lets just say that I don't think I would have managed 1% of the dignity, courage and fortitude that the families have shown for so long.

Today means more to me than anything that our great club has achieved on the pitch. Better than Istanbul, better than Dortmund or Olympiakos, because make no mistake, those fight backs were as nothing compared to the turnaround that has finally been accomplished by these brave, tireless souls.

They've roundly defeated the police, the media, and those in the highest positions of power in the land, and have done so with such grace as to make the whole thing scarcely believable. That they were able to see this through for so long without faltering, is as incredible as it is wonderful.

I truly hope that the families of those 96 innocents can now rest a little easier, and sleep a little sounder.

You did your loved ones, and a grateful city, very proud.

God bless you all.

An amazing day. 27 years we've been waiting for this. So happy for the families (if happy is the correct term, I'm not sure it is). Justice at long last.

Now the fight for accountability starts, but today is a day for thanking the jury and thinking of the families.

It should never have had to take a near-three-decade long fight to get this justice for all the innocent human beings at that game. The errors made by the authorities should have been officially accepted at the very first opportunity; the huge cover-up and shameful deflection of blame that followed those tragic events is in fact the darkest part of this whole sorry tale.

But the fight is over. Go home and heal your wounds now, Liverpool.
