Can anyone give me some words of wisdom on the selling front?

When I'm setting up the auction, is there any way of fixing a guaranteed price? So that if no one bids a certain amount, I won't lose my item for about 30p?

You have to pay a bit extra but set a reserve on it.
I don't do polite so fuck yoursalf with your stupid accusations...

Right you fuckwit I will show you why you are talking out of your fat arse...

add a reserve price to your auction. it will only sell once the reserve is met.

I have tons of old Speccy and C64 games up in the Attic, so I thought I would try to see if I could sale them on Ebay so chose 40 at random and stick them on Ebay a few hours ago.

6 of them have ready had bids and a few more have people watching them.

A couple of the games already have bids of around £10 it will be interesting to see what happens to them in the 9 days.

Just had another bid for Murder on the Mississippi now at £12.50.

In the End Murder on the Mississippi went for nearly £45.

I didn't realise some of these old games would sell so well sold a few more games for £20 and £10.

And more between 99p and £4.99.

Over £200 from the games I have sold already.

I sold my second ever item this week. It was a fred perry polo shirt and it ended on last Wednesday, as soon as bidding ended I sent an invoice to the winner telling her that I'll be sending it as registered at no extra cost to her. I've waited, how much is it, 5 full days and no payment was imminent. This morning I sent an email to remind her to pay.

This is what I received
Quote
Hi,

I am really sorry i didnt realise that i had won this. Unfortunately i do not want this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards

What an insolent fraudster. I had a problem figuring how such people exist and to make things worse ebay still take 10% of the final sale + listing fee.

I opened up an unpaid item case and at least if she still doesn't pay I will have a free re-listing and no 10% yet. I haven't left any negative feedback which she surely deserves because it will only be repaid in kind I guess.

not sure if it applies but i think when you get a non payer case you can leave negative feedback but can't get in return out of spite due to the situation?

I've just closed a non payment case yesterday. It has to be open for 4 days, if you don't receive payment in those 4 days, you can close the case and you get your listing fees credited and the buyer receives a unpaid item strike. Neither of you can leave feedback as the transaction was never completed.

When you are listing items, make sure you set up buyer requirements before hand, this will stop anyone who has unpaid item strikes against their name from bidding on your items.

Got myself a Paypal Access card.

It's so much easier you don't have to transfer you cash over to your bank and can use it anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

Nice to just use the card at the postoffice to pay for the postage from your paypal account keeps it all in one place,

Seems like it is that way.

When you are listing items, make sure you set up buyer requirements before hand, this will stop anyone who has unpaid item strikes against their name from bidding on your items.

Cheers for that. The second-chance offer does say it will credit the fees.

As I said earlier I'm kinda new to selling things there so I didn't know I could restrict the buyers, even though this particular lady would still have bid on it since her feedback looks pristine until now.

When I send items I like to send them recorded delivery in the UK and International signed for outside the UK.

Mostly because I used to send things none recorded and every now and again you would get someone who would say they didn't receive the item.

Of course they would open a case against you and Ebay would always come down in their favor what ever you say, so you end up losing the item, the postage and Ebay would give them a full refund.

Being they type of person I am, I know I sent the item so I think they are just con artists getting something for nothing.

The trouble is International sign for costs £5.15 + the cost of airmail. and then you get people moaning at you about the cost of sending stuff abroad like you are trying to rip them off even when you explain the costs. They come back with something along the line of so and so company do it all for £4.08.

Is their a cheaper way of doing this?

I use them for bigger parcels in the UK a lot cheaper than the post office, I like using them just print out the label and leave the parcel in the bin outside for them.

Shame they don't do international deliveries.

Thinking of buying one of these to run XBNC on it. Any suggestions for what hard drive I should get for it? I like the idea of a totally silent media center. Watching stuff on the xbox, is just too noisy with the fans.

Help needed...

Want to buy a laptop. There's only one in stock, so I messaged the seller which has a 99.4% rating. "Won't have the money till next week, any chance you could put it to one side for me?"

"If you deposit some sort of money into our account we'll happy end the listing"

This is my first time using Ebay if I'm honest, is this common? I don't want to get screwed like. Anything I can ask for?

It is never wise to deposit money into someone's account.

If he cons you, you would have nothing to show to ebay when you open a case.

I think it's fine..... ask him to invoice you via paypal for however much you want to pay. Make sure it clearly states that it is a deposit for the said item and you can also confirm this when paying the doposit.

I didn't realise old computer games sold so well.

Made over £2000 so far selling my old Speccy, C64 and Amiga games, but it depends what games you have some sale for £50 others 99p you are never to sure.

I think I will check out some car boot sales to see if I can find some more.

And people who buy them don't seem to complain and pay straight away so much different from the people who brought my heavy metal T-shirts they were some moaning c*nts.

I didn't realise old computer games sold so well.

That's great. I too have some 200 amiga games lying around, I kept them for nostalgia's sake though.

Tracy wanted to chuck them all away so I thought I would just put them up to see if they sold or not.

Glad I did.

I currently have a lot of shirts for sale on ebay. None of them LFC unfortunately but quite a few rare countries like Cayman Island and Krgyzstan are for sale.
