Playing FM touch on the ipad as Liverpool.

Fairly disappointing season, but last day of the season needed City to lose at home to Burnley and I could win on GD. They went 1-0 at ht. Down 2-1 at 70 mins. Won 3-2 ffs.

Can't get Bobby scoring and Origi has scored double. I've bought Immobile (who I regret) and Lauturo Martinez.

Martinez is so good that I sold Bobby.

My 1860 Munich save is my first fun one in years, already won 3.Liga and Bundesliga II and in my first season in the Bundesliga, I managed to finish sixth despite a predicted pre-season finish of 18th.

Now it is 2022-23 and in the Winter break for the World cup, I am second after 10 games on 22 points and I managed to win my EL that included Paok, Sporting Lisbon and Dinamo Zagreb.

I recommend taking a look at Rodri from Leonisa, Roberto Massimo from Stuttgart, Armini from Lazio, Corbo and Cangiano from Bologna, and Stevanovic from Partizan.
Finished at the age of 26. The Mike Tyson of football.

Armini is boss.  Mauro Icardi is a goal machine as well. Lewis Cook from Bournemouth might be a good cheap midfielder.

Playing as Liverpool means the board want you to win everything. FA Cup, League and Euro.

Second season I won the CL, lost in the FA Cup Final and finished 3rd (but I was resting the team to try and win a cup). I'm on a C- and facing the sack. Can't seem to catch City up. Their last minute goal record must be ridiculous.

Put my West Kirby save on the backburner for now and switched to creating New Brighton in the North/South leagues.  So far I've won 2, lost 4 and drawn 8, because we're specialists at conceding in the last five minutes of a game.

Haven't played FM in years, but I bought this years for something to do during furlough. Never used to do top division clubs because I think they're not too interesting after a few seasons, but I've started one with Liverpool to make sure I get used to it before branching out. In the second season the board expect me to win everything. Admittedly, the squad is absolutely stupid but even so ;D

Had two seasons with Liverpool.

Won the PL, FA Cup, CWC, Supercup, and community shield twice, plus the CL once. Signed Dybala in my first season, then Haaland, Sancho, Aoaur (it however you spell it), Alphonso Davies, Upamacano, plus a few wonder kids. Thought it was fun, but easy. Tried to find another more interesting job, but nothing appealed.

Started a new career with Leeds. Hatem Ben Arfa is the best signing I’ve ever made.

Took over AC Milan, lost 5 of my first 7 league games, thought I was going to get sacked so I had a team meeting, following that somehow went unbeaten for the rest of the season and winning the Serie A, with me just save scumming the last title decider against Inter. Not sure what's happened, but I've heard the game can be too easy?
Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.

Haha, fair dos. That's exactly why I created my own club, but the journey is way more fun than being the elite...!

There's different kinds of challenges out there, There's a few player created ones that sound solid:

The Pentagon Challenge: as a manager moving to different clubs win the UEFA Champions League, AFC Champions League, CONCACAF Champions League, the Copa Libertadores and the CAF Champions League. See https://community.sigames.com/topic/503285-fm20-the-pentagon-challenge/

And I don't have the stones to do the Youth Academy challenge: start as low as you can, aim to win the PL & CL in the same year...but only with players from your youth setup, no signings!

The San Marino challenge is boss though, take them to the top of Italian football and win the World Cup! It'd have to be with Cattolica Calcio San Marino for your club these days. See here

But there's where they'd edit it, looks a bit blocky? But it's a compressed pic so..

It's from Football Manager Touch and there's no editor available for that version.

He's only 14 and just popped out of the academy so that's why the N/A exists for value, hasn't signed a contract with the club yet. Considering it's 2023, user controlled Mainz is probably a side that qualifies regularly for European competition, so a 3 star player at 14 years old is very, very good!

Oh yeah, if unedited he's gonna be a world beater. Wonder what his overall potential is (can't tell without the editor). Three stars, the funny thing about FM a lot of players don't think that's a "good" rating. It really is.

As good as To Madeira  :D

Yeah, I used to be the same with star ratings a few years ago. Then in an injury crisis, my 2* striker scored 10 in 15 to fire me into Europe and since then I've not given them too much heed. Attributes and form are more important in the game.

Star ratings also change for a player compared to the average rating of your squad I think. So if you have a team of galacgico's an extremely good player could still show as 2.5 stars.

If you have a team of shite a 1 star player would show as 5 stars.

Yep, it's also dependent on your staff giving you the reports. There are hidden attributes that affect player performance too. It's ok as a rough guide to your team though.

4-2-3-1 gegenpress. Get yourself a proper AMC like Havertz or Aouar (ideally both) ASAP because Lallana doesn't stay fit. I edited Ox to make him a CM but if you don't want to you'll probably need one more to go along with Hendo, Gini and Naby

Is that 4-2-3-1 wide or narrow? I've signed Thiago in the January transfer window and looking to play him as the AMC.

I go wide, Salah and Mane score a ton. Bobby does ok but I eventually got that Lautaro guy and I think he had 25 in 15 games at one point.

Yeah, try one not in the PL  :D

I make my own club these days that start in Vanarama North... you get to see things you don't in the PL. More varied stadiums, harder to keep a track of things, harder to tempt players. Transfer embargos when the club gets bought..

Or do like the Pentagon challenge as I mentioned above. Never quite managed it, but it's fun  :D

start unemployed and skip a season, then apply for the team that gets promoted to the NIFL premier (3rd teir in Northern Ireland) and see how far you can take them

i did it a while ago, got them promoted twice, left to join Glenavon in the 3rd season, won 4 leagues in a row, no cups yet and still trying to crack the CL groups (got into Europa once and finished 3rd in a group with Beşiktaş, Malmo and some Slovenian team)

Anyone played FM Touch? I'm under the impression it's a lightweight version of the full game. Is the specs the same, but some of the functionality left out? Or is it optimized for lesser hardware?

I have an elderly laptop which I use for games over the Christmas holidays. FM or (older) Total War-series are my go-to franchices  ;D

I pretty much play only FM Touch these days. It's a more straightforward/accessible game to play. There's no player interaction and the staff roles are simplified. It's mainly just tactics and transfers you focus on.

It's definitely a much faster game to play. You should be able to complete a season in FMT in a 3rd of the time it would take you to do so in the full fat version of the game (with similar leagues loaded etc.), watching all the matches.

If you're looking to purchase for PC, I'd recommend buying the full game as you get FMT free with it so you can see which one you'd prefer.

I've got a 7 year old laptop and I can run all the major leagues very smoothly.

In that case, you'd have received FM Touch 19 free as well. You can try running it and see if it works smoothly. There's no big requirements jump to 20.

Fair enough. Ta.

I'm looking for a database where every team has a global transfer ban. Forever. To see how the teams fare with just their youth products. Anyone come across one?
I've heard about these for previous games but it has one glaring flaw:

Good players will outgrow the reputation of a smaller club and want to move on to a new challenge (and refuse to sign new contracts as a result) but obviously they can't sign for another side and there's no choice left for them but to retire.

That'd be a weird database.. In the long run it would be just as unfair as it is with transfers.

Clubs with the money to develop their youth system and training facilities would be able to develop their players better.

In the regen system too, there's also basically a catchment system for youth intake, and as you can imagine London and Barcelona and Madrid have a lot more more players to offer than Loch Ness. And overall, I'd have to check the exact mechanics but the country's own ratings seem to influence the quality of players to a certain extent.

Its an interesting idea but I think it would be pretty terrible! It would invalidate the scouting and transfer systems, but the real side effect of that is the standard of football would be really low.

As in life, the odds of a once in a lifetime talent being born in your area is low. A depressingly small amount of English players ever play at a high level. The odds of getting even three PL level players in the same youth group in one area is astronomical.

And as in life, one crippling injury can ruin a career. The next Messi might get born in Chester, but end up hamstrung by the club's poor development systems, get overused due to lack of other options, and end up absolutely crocked, ruining the club's chances to ever improve (especially heightened if transfer fees did not exist) , making income entirely about how the team fares on the pitch. All revenue being performance based... Taking us back to the bigger clubs with the biggest stadiums with the best facilities doing better, as they do anyway!
