Interesting that Neco Williams has been included in the Club World Cup squad. Has he jumped ahead of Hoever in the pecking order?

For those that weren't watching, our reserves beat Everton 5-2 last night.
We already have shit in the country, and the game of Liverpool fills life with joy. Thanks

Hoever might have been shifted into Cb to properly continue his development.

Hi guys, maybe someone knows if you can just show up at u23s game with Tottenham tomorrow and pay at the gate? Or is it behind closed doors?

Was thinking about it. Visiting London for a few days and thought it would be nice to catch a game.

Doesn't Williams going with the squad mean they have nobody else to play rb for this match so Hoever can't be shifted to cb he has to play rb?

I am not sure Hoever has the height fit cb. He plays rb for the national team normally and was supposed to have had a poor game vs Derby at cb for the u18s.

Your comment made me smile, but I really think JK looks at this group of players as a squad. I think he picks players for the opposition. I also think that the lads that played against the neighbors probably haven't been as good in defending, when the ball is lost, and that is a main reason why they seem to be "reserves". Injuries have hampered a few of them too. I just hope they all kick on and then Kloppo can mix and match to give the opposition head aches.  :wave

PS: The concern I have for the game against Villa is that I don't like playing a straight youth/U-23 team without some battle harden vets to help steer the ship through the rough waters during the course of a match. I am glad we seem to be taking the CWC seriously ,but I would like the same senior players to play with the U-23's that played against the gooners. Oh well, they will be in the deep end of the pool on this one. Hopefully Villa is worried about their league survival and put out a side with similar experience.

Klopp will be taking the CWC far more seriously than a lot of fans so I don’t think any youngsters will get game time in Qatar. But considering that Rhian Brewster, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are the other youngsters named in the CWC squad, I do think it’s a sign of where Williams stands at the moment. He certainly seems to have made strides this year and he may now be fulltime at Melwood. He’s another attacking player who has been converted to a fullback and looks better in the opposition half than Hoever. It would be great if one of them could push through and get to a level where they could be considered able deputies to Trent.

He has had a really good season for U18's scored quite a few important goals. This was a great come back and the last goal showed the vision of Elliott and the movement and strength of Layton Stewart.

He's been great this season for the 18s, scoring some important goals.  Can pretty much play across the front line except the striker role.

u23s drew 1-1 with Chelsea after resting most of the u23s for the game against Villa in midweek. Curtis Jones Scored, with Winterbottom and Dixon-Bonner the other  u23s involved. The rest of the side was u18s against a strong Chelsea lineup, so this is a great result for us.

Club World Cup squad: Alisson, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Adrian, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Lonergan, Shaqiri, Robertson, Origi, Jones, Alexander-Arnold, Williams.

Elliott and Brewster appearantly joining up after the Carabao-tie (and maybe Hoever too since Lovren's out?), but they'll have to do without both Jones and Neco Williams. I love our academy players but I'm getting a bit worried about the Villa-game to be honest...

Why be worried about the league cup game?  The kids will give it a good go and if they lose they lose. Should be looking at it as a great opportunity for that group to be tested in a big match on a big stage.

For me I think coady needs a loan to kick on I think he could have done with a loan this season as could have sama. I think next season is make or break for coady the way I see coady at the minute is that he is a decent championship player similar to spearing or jack Hobbs. Good reserves players, slightly below average first team players for the a top premiership club but well capable of been decent championship or lower level premiership players in time. Coady could kick on massively in 6 months because he is still young enough but it's unlikely. I think cleverley is slightly different he was always earmarked for the future when he went to Watford he was there best player and similarly at Wigan. I still think coady will end up being a cb and think its a shame he wasn't groomed more for that role. I think he lacks a yard of pace for the very top level to play dm, his build doesn't really suit that game either, you need to be very mobile and very quick to turn and close some of the best players in the world down. I think dm is one of the most important positions on the pitch as usually you are up against silva, tevez, aguero, Rooney, bale etc etc.

It was interesting listening to Jamie Carragher on MNF saying he told Coady as a 15 year old that he didnt have the pace to play DM. It reminded me of this post.

Who the fuck cares about the League Cup. Honestly I am happy we made this far to give the youngsters some good minutes this season as i am sure they have all loved it. The League Cup is a joke of a trophy imo and should be scrapped or be made into a u23 tournament with max of 3 senior players or something.

Herbie Kane going on loan to Hull City for the rest of the season

https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/academy/381056-herbie-kane-joins-hull-city-on-loan

Kane went on loan to Doncaster Rovers last season under Grant McCann who is now managing Hull City.

Kane was named in the League One Team of the Season in that campaign after 49 games.
