Who'd City draw with in the first 16 games last season? Everton?

Interesting that City have been shut out 3 times this season....resulting in 2 draws (one against us) & a loss

We've been shut out once....City.

As I said a while ago on this thread, if we continue to be able to find a goal, and continue to be as stingy at the back as we've been, we're going to be hanging around at the top of the table  ;D

Their draw against Wolves was a score draw, so they've only failed to score twice.

Interesting to see that we've conceded the least amount of goals of the four. Where would we rank in terms of goals conceded of all time?

Yeah they showed a table of the best defences after 16 games on Monday Night Football, and the current Liverpool were joint top (though I can't recall the other sides).

When you think about the style of football those sides played, (without knocking it, they were hugely impressive teams), the players they had and their budget relative to the rest of the league, that's a very impressive stat.

Is it just me, or is the PL strange this year in how it's bunched into groups? 1 point between 1-2, 2 points between 3-5,  a big drop and then 5 points between 6-13, and then another big drop and 5 points between 14-20.

It's the drops that appear unusual, but the most of the rest isn't that weird - there's 33 points between top and bottom currently, whereas it was 35 last year. There was 5 points between 14-20 last year, 3 between 3rd and fifth etc.

Match 17 update:

Gap to City on the Time comparison is getting tighter ;D

1H on the mini table is completed.

United can only do 89 points now 8)  If you take 95 points as the target to win, Arsenal can only drop 2 points from now on, Chelsea 5.

Spurs are hanging tough, but it sure looks like a 2 team race now.

I think we're now the 3rd best start in PL history.

Some strange splits home vs away so far this season:
Arsenal have played mostly top 10's at home, bottom 10's away.
Spurs played the top 3 at home, rest of top 10 away.
City have mostly played the top 10 away, bottom 10's at home.

Yesterday's result was a +2, for a total of +12 over last season's equivalents!

Next up is Wolves away which was a 1-0 loss for us, although that was at Swansea.

I think we're now the 3rd best start in PL history.

Just checking - are we still the 4th best start after this many games in English top flight history? A game or two ago they kept showing that stat that we were 4th all time (Man City last year 1st, Spurs in the 60s 2nd, Chelsea in the mid 00s 3rd).

When you say we're the 3rd best in PL history to you mean since 92 (i.e. we're still 4th overall) or did you mean English top flight history (i.e. we've now leapfrogged one of City/Spurs/Chelsea)?

It's always been based on being higher than the best 2nd place result....no 2nd team has gone 90 or above (so far)

BTW, this will be the first time since 2nd November 2002 that Liverpool will end the day 6+ points clear at the top of the Premier League table!

Man City are now in a position where they have to win every remaining match in order to match their points from last season. (44+57=101)

I think 93 will do the trick.

2H is tougher, especially if you're in the League Cup + FA Cup + deep into CL knock-outs

Unless I’ve miscalculated, we’d finish up on 93 pts if we only match last season’s results (2 loses & 6 draws from the next 19).

We'd need 42, that would give us 39. So only one less loss or 3 less draws. I actually fancy two less losses, and 3 less draws ;)

Man City only 3 points down on the equivalent measure? That's surprising given that the absolute maximum they can get now is 101 (meaning they only have 4 points dropped during the rest of the season)

It does look strange, because by time they’re 11 points lower than last season at the halfway point. I think it’s to do with the number of home and away games, and they took 10 points less in the second half of last season.
