He was immense all 120mins, didnt put a foot wrong. Him and Diaz MotM for me

Youngest English player to win the lot?

Coolest kid walking up for his pen, absolute pro. Love him.

Nailed the penno, turned expressionless, walked back to the midway line...

Outrageously talented footballer. There’s not a type of pass in existence that he doesn’t possess in his repertoire. Left foot, right foot, curlers, outside the boot, drilled, floated, whipped, lofted and pinged, he’s got them all.

I’m a bit like a broken record with him but he’s going to be in the shouts for our best ever player by the time he is done, if he isn’t in there already.

what hits me again and again is -- he does all of that, and in each game he does it multiple times with no hesitation, looking up, or setting himself.  often in virtually no space as he's being closed down.  his instincts are unbelievable.

regardless of position, I can't think of anyone else who can do that again and again.  he's bloody unique.

I saw Euan Dewar of statsbomb making a tit of himself online this evening saying Trent can’t defend again.

Trent is in an almost free role by this point and if you can’t see that you’re… well, a tit.

Maybe working with fixed role templates fixes your view of what a player is asked to do by a manager.

It is quite unbelievable how so_called experts and gareth southgate falls for the same trap over and over again.. There was multiple occassions yesterday when trent and robbo were like 25 yards from the chelsea goal; chasing the ball and putting up plays.. cant defend- beggars belief..
It’s not even about individuality, it’s about the team. Our game was based on his controlling of the tempo. Squeeze the life out of the opposition and then strike. That is our game. Like a pack of pythons.

He’s went to a new level this season, and what excites me most is that there is still a lot for him to improve on. As a previous poster said, we are going to be talking about this lad as one of our greatest ever players if he sticks around for long enough.

He seems like the type to spend an absurd amount of time outside of training on some of this stuff, out of the blue he'll just start hitting a new type of pass with precision and regularity.

Michael Cox has a piece in the Athletic about Trent's throw-ins (I know, I know, classic Athletic piece).

He's taking throw-ins basically like a free throw in basketball - barely touching it with his left hand while propelling it with his strong hand. The quality of his throw ins last Saturday were very good - setting Sadio up with a couple of attacks from seemingly non-threatening positions.

Clearly the work of Thomas Gronnemark paying dividends.

Motm for me. Brilliant performance.

I thought the same. I thought he was great on Saturday.

Because he's been around for years (over 200 appearances) and he's been so good I think it's easy to under estimate how good Trent is.

In my time watching Liverpool I'm not sure we've ever had a player who has been this good and this consistent up to the age of 23.

Gerrard, Fowler and Owen are the obvious comparators.  As good as they were between the debuts and being 23, I'm not sure any of them were having as much influences as Trent at the very highest level (i.e. Champions League and top end of PL). Trent is one of the most talented and important players in a team that is at the very pinnacle of European football. Unbelievably talented player.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Ha! Coxy was saying that Gronnemark's youtube videos show none of this stuff, and he's quite rightly holding back the good stuff for the clubs who employ him.

Did anyone see the video where they asked him about a review on his predictions at the start of the season. He predicted United to finish above us and they asked him that on Monday night football yesterday and he totally ignored the question and moved on to Everton being overachievers instead and said he got that wrong but didn't mention anything about United finishing above us  ;D

Just watched that on YouTube, Neville is jealous AF that Liverpool have a player that has refined the position he played in where TAA passed Neville's career assist total before he turned 23.

"Since its purchase by the sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Manchester City has managed to cheat its way into the top echelon of European football and create a global, immensely profitable football empire, ignoring rules along the way. The club's newfound glory is rooted in lies."

Neville has dug himself a whole and has no ladder. Trent is now playing at a level unseen before by any player in his position in the history of the league. His defending in particular is better than Walker by a country mile this season. It's just an absolute embarrassment for England he's not the first name on the team sheet. I know it would never happen but would be fantastic if Trent just came out and said he's retiring from the international scene until England got a real manager at the helm.

If he did that I think I'd celebrate the sheer cojones of it for about a month.  ;)

To be fair, not for one second do I think that Southgate doesn't want him (at least, not to the extent that the media are peddling this narrative that the England manager doesn't fancy TAA), but he has somehow allowed the media to keep shitting on Trent and doesn't do/say enough to correct their blatantly wrong statements and bias.
