Mixed feelings on this. Probably a smart choice marketing-wise. He was one of the most recognizable players of his era, so hey if that help us abroad thats good for me.

because

Guys it's fine. I've seen the brochure. He's charismatic. He's clean. He's fresh. Michael's got this.

I thought he couldn't go down any further in my estimation, until he said that Jurassic Park was just 'alright'.
I remember on the eve of the CL final in 2011 and he wrote on his twitter if we win the final i'll have got the complete set of medals, thanks to Messi etc they stopped that happening. :D

The guy probably totalled about 60 mins of being on the pitch in 10-11.

Does this mean that Owen will be sitting in the background, on a bench with a pair of crutches while the real ambassador represents the club.

Yuck, this gets on my pips a bit as this twat represents none of the values of Liverpool Football Club but like some others (looking at you Mcmanaman & Murphy) only uses it to further his own interests. My question is what does LFC get out of having this bell as an ambassador? it's not as if he'll light up the room with his sparkling conversation is it.

Manc twat shouldn't be employed by the club. Do the people behind the scenes at LFC ever "get it"?

You don't get to call yourself a Liverpool fan when you fuck us off for Madrid, then fuck off to Man Utd
He could be a "Half 'n half" ambassador for Liverpool and ManU, just like the scarves they sell these days.

Let it be. Why hold a grudge for so long?

He was a sensation in his time with us and you can sense when he's commentating, he still has a soft spot for us.

No problem with it at all. Some fans just take this football stuff too seriously. You would think he's a convicted rapist for fucks sake.

it's not grudge
its simple fact that he played for man  united
that should disqualify anyone from being lfc ambassador
whatever he did for lfc in the psst doesn't matter

plus no he holds no soft spot.. he wouldn't have played for them  if he had

Very strange move by the club, there are far better ex players to represent us.

Michael Owen is not only a fool as an individual (listening to him on BT is cringe worthy) but he also isn't a good representative of the club. It's not so much that he played for the Mancs for me, he is just not a good talker, he literally talks nonsense and we are appointing him as an ambassador to go out there and promote us.

Very poor from LFC to appoint him.

Livid at this!

Certainly no coincidence that this is announced the day after a big win against Everton so everyone is happy and won't react as badly, but it's unbelievable really that this guy has any association with this club since he moved to United.

No overreaction there! Are Rushy and Fowler not already involved with this kind of thing? Kenny is a Director at some level isn't he? Gerrard is still playing and Souness would arguably be an even more divisive choice.

Both him and McMoneyman are being paid by you - who buy the merchandise and go to the games.
What couldn't the fans have a vote?  The club could have had say 5 candidates and we get to choose?

So I Sterling is in line for a job at the club when he retires then.
