I see the NHS superman design concept is being used on lamp post banners around the city centre now!
I noticed it by the Baltic Triangle.

It was also painted on a full shop front somewhere in Liverpool a couple of months ago.

Yeah, I did actually have the idea for myself but I think plenty of other people had the same idea too - it's not exactly earth-shattering. On the day I finished mine, my sister sent me a picture of a Banksy with the same thing.

I thought it was a great idea. I might have been mistaken when I said I saw it on a shop front a couple of months ago. Maybe it just feels that long ago. Yours was the first time I'd seen the design, and I wondered if whoever painted it on the shop shutters had seen yours and took inspiration from it as it was pretty much identical. Since then it's popped up quite a bit though. Great minds, eh...  :)

This would be a good basis for a banner and a nice way of showing solidarity with an embattled people to boot.  It’s practically an asterisk already, add a sixth arm and a sixth star and there we go.  China wouldn’t like it and the epl would hate it mind you.

Without wanting to go into the politics too much, it would be a nice nod to the city's Cantonese population. 6 of those around an image of the Chinese arch would be nice. Would just be a very sly nod towards the politics.

Don't know what the city's non-Cantonese population would make of it mind.

Lads. I've gone blank.  Who is the MOD or long time poster on here who is called Albie?

Watching a film on King Kenny last night.  At one of the finals (could have been Heysel) there was a banner with "Albie is here" and an arrow pointing downwards.

I know there isn't just one Albie in the world but was just wondering if it could be the same fella?

Hi, I bought a standard red 100% polyester flag with Liverbird, and I'm thinking of painting a premier league trophy on it. Any suggestions on what type of paint to use?
I use acrylic paint mixed with a fabric medium such as Liquitex.

With Liquitex you don't have to iron the finished article to 'set' the paint. I mix it one a 1:1 ratio of paint to fabric medium. The medium is white, but when you mix it in it goes clear and doesn't affect your colour or dilute it. Acrylic paint is available in lots of places such as Cass Art, Hobbycraft, larger B&M stores, as is the Liquitex fabric medium. You can also get gold and silver acrylic paint for painting stars and trophies if you don't want to go with yellow or white.

If I can, I'll add some old posts of mine showing my own flags painted with the materials I've mentioned.

Here you go, mate. These are done with acrylic paints mixed with Liquitex fabric medium.  :)

They are painted on ordinary, plain polyester flags.

I'm currently painting another flag. White with a red PL trophy on it, using this version of the trophy.

18 old style league trophies with an asterisk as the 19th would be pretty good too.

I like this idea, PL trophy in the middle of it, with champions/campione below it i'm thinking.

I remember him saying it relates to him going to the match with his Dad.

I imagine it's how many of us started  out watching the team in the flesh. Going to Anfield with our Dad. Particularly poignant if our Dad is no longer with us and won't get to see no19 being lifted.

Got you. It's a personal thing for him. Just seems a bit of a bizarre thing to display on a banner though in my opinion.
