Quite an extraordinary ending to the Apertura (opening) tournament of Liga MX.
The final was between Pumas (Mexico City) and Tigres (Monterrey).
Tigres won the first leg 3-0.
However, in the second leg, things got crazy. Pumas went up 1-0 right before halftime, added a second not too long after the restart, and then leveled the scores on aggregate with 5 minutes to go. The match went to extra time (and Pumas went down to 10 men) and then Andre-Pierre Gignac scored for Tigres in the 103rd minute to give them a 4-3 aggregate lead. However, Pumas scored in the 119th minute (after Tigres were also reduced to 10 men) to level the tie once more (no away goals rule).
4-1 on the night, 4-4 on aggregate.
It went to pens and Tigres won the shootout 4-2 to win the Apertura 2015. Gignac scored a penalty as well.
Wilding ending.
