Liga MX
« on: December 14, 2015, 05:22:27 am »
Quite an extraordinary ending to the Apertura (opening) tournament of Liga MX.

The final was between Pumas (Mexico City) and Tigres (Monterrey).

Tigres won the first leg 3-0.

However, in the second leg, things got crazy.  Pumas went up 1-0 right before halftime, added a second not too long after the restart, and then leveled the scores on aggregate with 5 minutes to go.  The match went to extra time (and Pumas went down to 10 men) and then Andre-Pierre Gignac scored for Tigres in the 103rd minute to give them a 4-3 aggregate lead.  However, Pumas scored in the 119th minute (after Tigres were also reduced to 10 men) to level the tie once more (no away goals rule).

4-1 on the night, 4-4 on aggregate.

It went to pens and Tigres won the shootout 4-2 to win the Apertura 2015.  Gignac scored a penalty as well.

Wilding ending.
King Kenny.

Should imagine he's on a massive contract. He's been banging them in left, right and centre as you'd imagine at this level. Think he'll back in Europe soon enough and perhaps even at a Premier League club

In the final as I type. Tigres vs. Chivas. Cracking atmosphere and tackles flying in from everywhere.

Love Liga MX, great tournament, always a bit mental.

I live in Vancouver, BC now, Vancouver played Tigres in the Concacf Champions League Semi Final in April and me and my mate (another expat scouser) flew down for the away game. We were the only two away fans in the stadium, was sketchy as fuck but a good story to tell!

Golaso from a tight angle for the equalizer and brace by Gignac.
