Has announced he'll stay on at Atlético for another season on his Facebook page  :wave

I wish him the best of luck unless he plays us in Europe and hope he'll get his first ever career league medal this season!

Torres came here to win things when it was unlikely he would be winning at Madrid, he came here with a team that contained many world class players in the brink of something special, with a special manager.

And he left when the team was being gutted, the manager he loved had left and the ownership had the club on its knees. I have no real ill feelings towards him at all. It sucked for everyone including Torres himself and you could see with the performances  he put out for Chelsea.

And looking back, he was right to move as well,we have been fighting for 6th.7th/8th places ever since bar a few seasons here and there. Meanwhile he has made a shit load of money, and won a few trophies to boot.

Only thing that sucked was he went to Chelsea, but we are as much to blame for that as him.

Torres never caused a bad headline for the club in 3.5 years and was a proper role model professional. Also given that Barcelona had just moved Messi into the middle there was no place he could go back home to Spain to at the time so Chelsea was his only exit route. I think had the club not treated him like a mere commodity/asset but appealed to his human side he'd have stayed. Had there been a manager with a much stronger human touch than Hodgson and acceptable results during the autumn he'd never have left.

Still baffles me how Pellegrini was available coming from some marvellous years in Spain and also 96 p at Real Madrid and Purslow went for Hodgson???

Nando will leave Atletico Madrid in January, citing a poor relationship with manager Diego Simeone and the pending arrival of Diego Costa

Well Torres isn't going to want to work with Simeone at Everton.

I agree to be honest. He's not better than the players we have right now, so why bother signing him?

A shame the way its worked out for him, you would have thought he'd have retired at his boyhood club, it seems its not to be though.

Probably would be a waste of time recruiting him for 6 months as would hardly get a look in. Sturridge fulfills what ever role Torres would do and hes up to speed with what Klopp wants. Brilliant striker who should have stayed here but then again he was as sick of the Yank owners as we were. Could have given FSG a chance but the bright lights of London dazzled his agent / himself.

Leaving Atletico end of this season, reckons he's got 2 or 3 years left in him and not playing enough at Madrid.

With Sturridge, Origi and Ings  looking likely to move we could do with a 3rd choice.

Wasn't he almost on the verge of signing for a Mexican side last summer before Atletico received a transfer ban? Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

A lot of talk in Australia that the A-League should target him, but there is no money here so can't see it happening personally.

Seriously we should put feelers out. Say to him come back to your home from home and be part of something special. Of course the day's of him being #1 forward are over but he will get many opportunities with us in cup games and coming off the bench.  I can see 3 of our strikers going so there will be space for him.

If Danny Inggs  decides to leave to pursue first team football id take him as a replacement in the squad.

He won nothing with us, so he will be forgotten in years to come. Like many of the 90s squad and the mid to late 00's. One of them though.

I hope he doesn't choose money, I'd like to see him team up with Stevie at Rangers  ;)

Torres pre-31 January 2011 was a beast, sadly now for him those days are long gone. I reckon he'd be more keen on MLS than he would be on China though, already being an English speaker and all that. For players who don't know English, China seems to be a more serious option.

Disagree with that, you don't simply forget a player who was once the best striker in the world, in the same way we don't forget Xabi or Suarez.
