He's the best leftback we've had in donkey's years.  We just need to keep him bloody fit.

Not quite sure what he gets out of his little vendetta campaign to be honest. Is it pure blindness or is it just someone too stubborn to admit that they protested wildly months ago and were wrong?

When Aurelio is fully fit I think that he's pretty good. Sound at the back & sound going forwards, does have some bad games (i.e. Man City this season) but he hasn't done bad for a man brought in on a free.

Not a bad player, need a class player if we are to win the league. Not a bad tackler and a good crosser of the ball.

fabio is a nice steady full back with a decent left foot , and has played 12 or 13 times for brazil but as we know he is injured a lot and it has held him back a little , he doesn't pull up many trees with his performances but he is steady and mostly when playing reliable .

I think Aurelio is a quality left back. One of the top 3-4 in the league. The problem he has, is that as soon as he gets into form, he gets injured. Then it takes several games for him to get match fit again. Every time he's got into a run of half a dozen or more games, he's been excellent. The difference between him and that ginger c*nt is so evident. But then, gets injured again. It's why I don't understand the signing of Degen. Players need consistency and regular games.

I'll be honest I think Degen has looked shite but I always think Aurelio looks at his best 2-3 games after his latest injury. And Degen hasn't got anywhere near his ability, but who knows. Strange signing.

Half the talent, twice the cripple.

Not sure why he hasn't be called up since. They're not blessed with great left backs at the moment.

Agree, Dani Alves naturally is a right full back, however to accomodate for the much preferred Maicon of Inter Milan he is played at left back.

He has been called up twice. Got injured both times and had to pull out. Was called up in, I think, 2003 or 2004 before serious knee injury and had received word he was to be called up when he got his achilles injury. He has not really had a run of injury free games since then so that will be why he has not been chosen.

So he hasn't played for the Brazil first team then. If memory serves they don't classify playing in the olympics as representing the national team because it's not a Fifa organised tournament i think. Don't quote me on that though.

I think JAR was a great left back for us. Just went off the boil for the last season so some people are forming an incorrect opinion that he was shite all the time. I liked Riise i loved his commitment although he could be frustrating at times.

Sorry if it's addressed elsewhere but why did this man go off? Injury?
He seems to have come on leaps and bounds this year. Maybe though it just seems that way because Dossena is so bad.

Well he's certainly not the worst on the team so if you're not settling for second best then you must want a hell of a lot of replacements.

As for why he went off tonight, no clue, but changes at half time usually indicate an inability to continue. Was at game and noticed he was touching the back of his leg. Strain, perhaps?

i would have a replacement for arbeloa, aurelio and kuyt. the rest are solid in the first 11. and kuyt only makes that list due to the fact he is not a right winger.
i assume the reason he was taken off has to be down to the fact that he is ineffective, lacked movement and may have been injured....again!

btw, i would have aurelio down as the weakest link in the team and hence the worse player. but maybe you can spot someone else....take tonights lineup for example....

I think we took Kuyt off because we knew we'd go through at that time. We need to rest him from time to time.

With Dossena playing the way he does, Aurelio is fast becoming a key player for us. Hope he's OK.

Wondered where you were when Fabio has been playing well, getting TWO ASSISTS IN TWO GAMES when you say he contributes nothing going forward and helping us keep clean sheets.

But no, he gets injured and here you are, claiming he is 'ineffective' and lacks movement etc...

His delivery into the box is superb, he doesn't just lob it into an area, he looks up and whips in a ball at pace, usually right into the path of the attacker he's picked out.

Aurelio's doing well at the moment. What was the reason he came off, I'm guessing at a calf strain as that seems to be an ongoing problem but i didn't pick anything up first half and he was right in front of me in the paddock.

If he's injured we should play Insua, Dossena has gone.

I am too but tonight's display was worrying. He was hanging onto his winger when the ball was 40 yards away.

The tackle on the edge of the box was unbelievable and could (not should) have been given as a penalty when he had mascherano in relative control.

he's injured...again......really neil, is this the type of player that you think is one of the best LBs in the PL?? I dont think so.
