His obsession with playing for England must make the bitters hate him even more than they already do

It's quite amazing that he not only has been England's number 1, but still is at the moment. Surely that changes before the Euros.

Pickford's biggest concern should be his Everton career. I can't imaging him endearing himself to Ancelotti as a goalie, or as a character. He should be first out of the door in the summer.

Both Nick Pope and Dean Henderson has a better season than him. It is so obvious that it is not even a difficult decision for Southgate to make.

He would be dropped from the next International.

Might just be me but he strikes me as a rather xenophobic sort. Someone who doesn't have much time for foreign coaches. Comes across as the Hodgson version of goalkeepers.

Ben Foster too. I actually think Ben Foster deserves a lot more England caps than he has. Limited but probably the best shot stopper England has.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford says criticism does not affect him, adding "everyone hates you" when you are an England player.

The 25-year-old was at fault for Christian Benteke's goal on Saturday as Everton went seventh in the Premier League thanks to a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace.

Pickford says the criticism is unfair.

"Everyone hates you, for some reason, that's part of being an England player," he said.

"I think the press and everybody, the punters - look at Gary Neville - they just want to come for England players.

Drops a clanger for probably about the 40th - 50th time in the last 18 months alone and comes out and has a go at anyone and everyone. Sums him up really.

Bit mad going after Neville too, he gets off seriously lightly on sky. Leno has probably had more criticism than this guy in the last 18 months and he's lightyears ahead of this fella.

I just had a little look around and I couldn't find anything that stated who exactly he was talking to, but it did say he was asked after the Palace game about the pressure on his England place by Dean Henderson. So, I assume it was a post-match, post-mistake interview, but with whom, I don't know.

Pickford misses the point that he actually gets a remarkably easy ride when playing for England compared to almost every other player. He gets slated at Everton because he just keeps on playing poorly, making mistakes and acting like a prat (on and off the pitch).

I think it's good for goalkeepers to have a thick skin and self-confidence - Lord knows David James would have benefited from some of Pickford's bravado - but Pickford seems to take it too far. He doesn't seem willing or able to learn and he's still making all the same poor decisions he was as a raw talent at Sunderland.

Southgate won't ever drop him but I expect it will be the first thing the next England manager, whenever that may be, will do.

Probably just talking to himself after making a routine save look difficult, followed by shouting at his defence and making some words gestures.
