Pickford misses the point that he actually gets a remarkably easy ride when playing for England compared to almost every other player. He gets slated at Everton because he just keeps on playing poorly, making mistakes and acting like a prat (on and off the pitch).
I think it's good for goalkeepers to have a thick skin and self-confidence - Lord knows David James would have benefited from some of Pickford's bravado - but Pickford seems to take it too far. He doesn't seem willing or able to learn and he's still making all the same poor decisions he was as a raw talent at Sunderland.
Southgate won't ever drop him but I expect it will be the first thing the next England manager, whenever that may be, will do.
