If ours had been home leg first we would have been having it behind closed doors in Madrid tomorrow I would imagine.
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

You think? Just don't let the Madrid fans in, that'll be fine!

they’ll just end up in pubs in the city which doesn’t seem ideal for anyone

Difficulty is that I imagine they'll still be filmed so all the pubs will just be stowed out with us watching there instead. Closer contact than an open aired stadium

Dominic Cummings is no doubt working up a new definition of "death" on the basis that anyone over the age of 70 shouldn't be counted.

They've all been in their 80s havent they?

If anything, that will just make the governemnt even more sure they are right to let things carry on

all 70+ at least, the point is if it spreads it takes away vital NHS care away from others, look at the Italian healthcare system,

I would have thought the advice to work from home should precede cancellation of games. From a scientific perspective you're far more likely to catch the flu breathing in air-con circulated air in an office than you are on a cold, windy day on the terraces. But as we know the government's priority is not public health but raw economics.

They have effectively admitted that the number of cases is going to rocket but they're still not even telling people with symptoms to stay at home. They might do so in 14 days time. Madness. I have no doubt there will be some token sporting cancellations which serve the purpose of giving the impression that they are seen to be doing something.

While to a point, you're correct, I reckon i sit closer to maybe 10 people in a football ground than I do to one person in an office.

This thread about what is going on in Italy's hospitals is pretty frightening

I was reading this last night. It is concerning and exactly why the Government will likely soon enough be forced to take fairly drastic measures. They need to slow the spread so the NHS has a remote chance of coping. Otherwise people will die of this and other things that otherwise wouldn’t if the NHS had capacity. Let’s hope we get this league wrapped up as soon as possible.

Amazing that travelling in and out of the country is still relatively unrestricted. Containment surely isn't viable if a random traveler could bring it in at any moment.

There’s no healthy people dying from this. Not that that should mean its not a bad disaster like

You don’t catch it by standing next to someone.

You’re far more likely to catch it in an office space, touching the same surfaces as infected people, being in a closed box of a room with people, taking cups of tea off people etc etc

Not to mention the dirty air con units in offices that hardly ever get cleaned out!!  All the dirty people who don't wash their hands and then touch all the surfaces and door handles.

I'm sure I could go to Anfield, watch the game and not touch any surfaces with my hands.  It'll all go to pot though celebrating our last minute winner!!

have some hope, football is held in higher in British society than in Europe, they know closing doors is a big thing but we have to hope for a slow down in cases, current trajectory isn't good

I think it's more that society is held in less of a regard and people just don't care about others to be honest.
