My first European game was the 76 UEFA semi v Barca. 3 times now we've knocked them out of a competition and gone on to win it. If memory is right, we've never lost a 2 leg tie to them, we've knocked them out 4 times in total, 1976, 2001,2007 and 2019.

Shame they won't be in the knockouts this season, unless they pull off a miracle in Munich.

I think it's partially a reluctance on top sides to trust the kids until you are absolutely sure they can hack it. Problem is that if you don't give them the chance, you never know if they are ready. You look at some of the teams you mentioned and one loss is a disaster with a week long inquisition.

I'd say Chelsea, City and ourselves (and parts of the PL overall) are a bit better with it but even then with how tight the league is looking even a draw is a poor result and you inevitably get some fans mouthing off about playing a kid instead of a more experienced squad player.
