Oh to be a young chap playing Fifa, using your own self, onscreen!

I'm nearly 40 and I'm always playing with myself....

Any news on Rhian's recovery from injury?  Seems to be dragging on longer than first anticipated.

Great news, good to see him back after a frustrating year.

That sounds like he's outside your window :) Say Hi to him for us.

Look forward to seeing what this lad can do. Heard a lot about him. Wonder if he'll see much action this season, though?

That's alright, it's not all that long a way off. As I said, I don't envisage him seeing much action this season even when fit.

So what sort of player is he then?

Can't say I have been blown away by the various highlight reels, but Klopp and the club clearly think he has what it takes. Is he poacher, creator, pacy striker playing on the last man, target man, or a bit of everything?

Not an expert on him, but apparently he’s excellent at playing the role he’s given.  Highly able to adapt his game to what is needed..

Would a short term loan spell do him some good - regular appearances rather than sitting on the bench or being part of the U23s?

Got the impression that he didn’t move last summer in the end as he was convinced he had a place in the first team squad and would get opportunities. I also think that he was probably ahead of Solanke in that way of thinking and is the reason we were happy to give Sturridge another season rather than splash out on a new striker.

It’s all just my opinion but I think they think he might be pretty special and once fit will be given the chance to fit in with the current front 3 to give us that top class 4th option we need.

No. His education should be at Anfield. With Sturridge and Origi almost certainly leaving in the summer he has a clear path to the first team.

After seeing Brewster for the reserves his playing style mostly reminds me of Rashford so as a comparison

18 years old - 2015/16
League 11 app (5 goals) |  FAC 5 app (1 goal)  |  League Cup 0 app (0 goals) | Europe 3 app (2 goals) - Total 18 app (8 goals)

19 years old - 2016/17
League 32 app (5 goals) |  FAC 3 app (3 goal)  |  League Cup 6 app (1 goals) | Europe 11 app (2 goals) - Total 53 app (11 goals)

20 years old - 2017/18
League 35 app (7 goals) |  FAC 5 app (1 goal)  |  League Cup 3 app (2 goals) | Europe 8 app (3 goals) - Total 52 app (13 goals)

Rashford at the same age as Brewster (18) made 18 appearances and scored 8 goals. A decent return.

Rashford is an interesting comparison. I think Brewster would have got a game or two by now if not for the injury and then we would have had a better idea if he was on the same sort of trajectory as Rashford. I'd be delighted if that is the level of player he becomes, a very decent alternative to our front three.

Klopp confirmed in today's press conference that we won't be seeing him until the next pre-season.

Unsurprisingly, we didn't sell Solanke because Brewster was going to play this season.

Depends on how you interpret what Klopp says. He says we won't be thinking about him until pre-season, that's not to say that he won't be ready. IN other words we aren't rushing his recovery

That sounds right. Makes sense keeping Sturridge and Origi for the one season while selling Ings and eventually Solanke. I can see us buying another though, so that we go into next season with 5 options up top.

Because the last time Klopp talked about him, he wouldn't be back practicing with the full squad until next preseason. Him training today with the full team seems like he might be much further along, which is enough to elicit mild surprise in me.

Good to see him out on the pitch. Being around Ox surely would have been a positive moment for him while out of business.

But what is the hype with him? While other youth players like Wilson and Ejaria are out getting precious minutes, Brewster is out for quite a while.

Surely the lengthy injury will play a negative role on his development and also his future injury record. I recall Samed Yesil who was also highly touted but have totally gone off the radar after suffering a couple of really brutal injuries at such a young age. Lets just hope Brewster case is different.
